What the heck is wrong...?
With my game? I have had TW Eras for quite a while and I've yet to experience this since the older versions of the game. I started a VI game and it worked fine for a long time, but oddly it all of a sudden crashed to the desktop. Now, I enter the main menu, try to start a completely new game, and when the loading bar loads fully, the game crashes to the desktop again. No error message, no nothing. :furious3: :help:
edit: Blah, it seems I can sometimes load a game but whenever it starts loading for a battle, it sometimes crashes to the desktop, too. Basically, it's now unplayable. :(

Do you have Service Pack 3 (if you're on XP), do you have the latest video drivers?

Yes, I have an XP. Hmm. What exactly is service pack three? As for the latest video driver, yes I do.

You haven't told us what video card you have (which is all important when it comes to mtw crashes). If you have a recent nvidia card, you may be able to prevent crashes by using this fix.
After having another look at that thread, it looks like it has helped ATI users too, so you should probably try it whatever card you have.

XP has 3 service packs, SP1 (original), SP2 and SP3. SP3 is the latest and final one, which you can download from Windows Update site, or wherever else you can find it's hosted. I didn't download it for a long time and I couldn't get M:TW not to CTD on my nvidia card (whenever I'd start a campaign), just like you said, but upgrading fixed it.
Might give it a shot.
