Is Macedon too easy?

I started another Macedonian campaign and it is now Winter of 255BC and I control 24 provinces. I am currently allied to Rome, hes moving west for now, neutral with Getai, I have massive numbers of troops on border with him about to strike, and at war with Selucid and took 5 or 6 of his provinces now and hes falling back fast. I am pumping out troops as fast as I can because I know Selucid will come back eventually, assuming Egypt doesn't tear him apart.

In my next few years I should take another 2-3 territories from Selucid and I have soo many troops on the border with Getai I will overrun him in a few turns once I decide to attack. Getai has 4 territories and only about 1 full stack of troops between his 4 territories, that I can currently see. I have about 4-5 stacks of troops on his border between all the rebel territories I took, and I took ALL but 1 from Krete to Segesteca to the west and Byzantion to the east.

Rome has about a 3/4 stack on my Western border but I have more then enough troops to deal with him. Rome has expanded to the west quite far but has yet to take Sicily or go to war with Carthage. Hes busy fighting the Gauls.

Basically my with my income and number of troops I could attack Rome, Getai and Selucid all at the same time and finish off Getai within 1 year and Rome within 2 years max, or at least all of his Italian cities. Selucid is at war with Egypt and the are pushing up from the south as I move east against him.

Does anyone else find Macedon this easy? It starts out difficult as you are immediately at war with four factions, two right next to you, and you have to fight repeatedly to hold back Epiros and Hellon but once you beat them back there is nothing around but tons of rebels, Rome to the west which is occupied with Carthage and Gaul and Selucid to the east which starts out as your only ally and is at war with as many as five factions right from the start.

Oh I am playing on Hard/Medium.

Well, where's the fun in the style of game you prefer? EB is best played roleplayed.

You've got some very rich starting provinces, and conquering the rest of Greece gives you access to lucrative sea trading. That's why you can get yourself into a very strong position early in the game. The fun starts when you expand further beyond your homeland...

As you press east through Asia Minor, north into Eastern Europe, and west towards Italy, your borders will expand dramatically. You will need larger garrisons to control newly-conqured settlements, which will give you relatively less money (at least initially). If you continue to use mostly factional troops then your supply lines will stretch further and further, taking much longer to resupply your armies. If you use local troops then it will take time to develop higher-level MICs to get the higher-quality troops.

The further you expand the more likely you are to encounter better opposition, especially once various factions get reforms and new troop types become available.

This isn't to say that you'll necessarily find things hard-going, but you'll probably find the game more complex, and, hopefully, fun!

If you really want a challenge you could always try to establish a Central European part of your empire...

maybe you should try harder settings... if you're not the roleplaying kind of guy

I'm not used to roleplaying in RTW. I usualy play as Rome or Macedon in vanilla and try and expand as fast as possible. As Rome it's a little more difficult as you have 3 other factions competing for territory but it's still easy to expand quickly with their very nice troops. As the Macedonian's I can usually crush the Greeks in a few turns. After I destroy the greeks I usually go for Sicily and then Rome so that my biggest threat is gone and I can use Italy to create a large amount of income from trade and large amounts of troops to invade Carthage and Gaul while Macedon moves north and east.

roleplay like me then, secure athenai at start, push epirotes off of the greek lands
and move there units to taras, then move of ur units to sicily, conquer then give the epirotes the lands and 10k money, and peace. or move them to pergamon

create an greek allied army of classical hoplites, akontoski, etc with greek medium calv
(no macedonian units, xept a 2 or 3 deutorias and a merc pezhetairoi)

keep them stationed on the road from korinthos to sparta, camp them at ur border and let the spartans attack you without retraining units (keep making and joining them, keep reserves in korinthos to supply the ones on the front)

wait 3 years to conquear the northern settlements and wait 1 year to pacify the regions before moving to the next, all must start with a lvl 4 gov and work its way up in 20 year intervals
(while building local mics for those elite troops)

max of 2 full macedonian armies with calv and a fleet of tririremes ,or pentikirines in every greek port,
+ an allied thracian/celto army defending northern settlements (gallo thracians, all those good troops north)

demetrias and pella will have the exact buildings being built at the same time with same completion dates

must have a 6 -9 unit replacements/reserve stack + a general of some sort (merc etc)

cannot conquear rome until 220bc or if roleplaying, 1st macedonian/roman war-

Does not expand to carthage/western europe until you become Arche Makedonia, ruler of all those traitors in the seleukid lands, ptolemaics fakes!!!

cannot conquear, germania or casse, or north of massalia, emporion

All lands in between or under them is fair game!!!

Just to verify. You have started the EB script? You cannot expect any resistance if this is not on.

Yes I started the EB scrpit as soon as I started and I make sure I turn it back on every time I load a save game. I just find the Greeks and Epiros factions very easy to beat early on.

I started an Epiros faction to test it out and I was able to capture two of Macedons cities in about 1 year and then reinforced the city but I lost my city in Rome and the Greeks attacked me. I don't think I will have a problem with them once I destroy the last Macedonian army on the mainland as I already destroyed the greek force he sent against me and the Greeks are pretty much out of troops now.

Two questions as Epiros. Why does the player start with WAY less troops playing Epiros then the AI does and how come the Greeks and Macedonians don't attack each other when they are at war? The AI playing Epiros starts with a large force of troops in Italy and the ability to recruit more, the player only gets 3 and no recruitment facilities, and the AI starts with 2 elephants and a large amount of troops in Greece but the player only starts with 1 elephant and about half the units. Not only that but the Romans started with 2 units of Extrordinarii and 3 units mixed between Principees and Hastati right next to my city Taras.

Player has brains. AI gets extra units and extra money. Its a fair deal, we believe.
