The Constitution is Unconstitutional!

The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union were, obviously, perpetual. The founders were called together to propose changes for the Articles, such as making all international commerce regulated by the national government not by the individual State governments. They, however, decided to write a new Constitution for the United States; something which they had no authority to do. On top of that, they did it in secret. Many people at the time were very happy with the structure of the government under the Articles, many felt that they needed some slight changes, only a minority (a very wealthy minority) of the people felt the need to radically strengthen the government. Many of the famous patriot leaders in the Revolution were opposed to the new Constitution, they felt that it betrayed the principals of the Revolution, expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
