And the gender selection for the account creation screen amuses me.

Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Thank Kek, had my access key sent to me today, I didnt know since I read this thread.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I must heavily recommend Freespace I + II and its expansion for any fan of space games.
Even though it is VERY old, the game has aged beautifully and has a great deal of content that will last anyone for a while. I can confidently say that it is still probably the best space shooter game out there today (that is not in a sandbox space like game)
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Why do prices always have to be in dollars
Selection is still rather meagre at the moment. Hopefully they'll get some decent ones out before the promotion ends.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I was sort of looking forward to this. I prefer hard copies, though.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Ooh! They have the original Descent! Will have to check that out, methinks.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I'm most interested in hearing how well the games have been adapted to run on modern OSs and much higher-spec machines than at the time of original release. I look forward to reading reports on this.

As am I, actually. I'd be especially interested if they ever got the rights to sell Star Trek TNG: Birth of the Federation. Even to this day, that game suffers from a memory leak that causes turns to take forever to process, even on high-end computers.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Not really planning on buying any of these games right away, but I'll keep an eye on them as their library expands.
I definitely appreciate what they are trying to do. :2thumbsup:
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I bought myself Fallout Tactics, and used the coupon to get Fallout for free. I already have Fallout, but not having to deal with hard copies is awesome. Plus they give me the soundtracks to both games in MP3 format.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Classic games by digital download, updated to work on modern operating systems, DRM-free and cheap? Yes please.

And if you do get them, have a look around at Hard Light Productions - it's the main hub of the Freespace community and the home of the Source Code Project, the project for improvement of the Freespace 2 engine based on the original source code, released by the developer.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I got my key yesterday, had been waiting for it, bought myself Jagged Alliance 2 Unfinished Business and used the coupon for Fallout Tactics to have a look at that Fallout stuff as well. :2thumbsup:
What I also find great and admirable is that they put actual work into those games and made them XP and Vista compatible.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
:furious3: No Masters of Orion II. Yet, anyways.
But overall, I REALLY like their concept.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
Only when the entire One Unit Whole Blood pack for Blood appears on this list, I'll be interested.

What, you lost your disk? For shame.

Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
If any of you haven't played Sacrifice, and I suspect you didn't because you aren't praising it into high heavens, I urge you to give this work of love a try, and a work of love it is, it's a creative explosion. Only Thief:The Dark Project (owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww THIEF GAWD) has me dripping with more fanboyism. Tough as nails, brilliant beyond believe.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
those really are good old games.
if it had interstate '76, outlaws and myth, it would be called "great old games".
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I have found love!

3. You buy it, you keep it.
Don't let your DRMs turn into nightmares (clever, eh?). You won't find any intrusive copy protection in our games; we hate draconian DRM schemes just as much as you do, so at GOG.com you don't just buy the game, you actually own it. Once you download a game, you can install it on any PC and even re-download it whenever you want, as many times as you need, and you can play it without an internet connection.
this is what i want from 21st century games distributers.
Re: Good Old Games has gone into beta
I just saw they added PayPal to the payment methods and they will get IGI 2. :2thumbsup:
