We've had a bit of luck as well.
well when you're not like the US, where everyone's distracted with arresting people for Marijuana... you tend to do things right.
Yes its a half a joke but hey, i bet if cops here were spending less time arresting ppl for weed, they'd arrest more people trying to commit more heinous offenses!!!!
I'm American and I agree that our homeland security and police efforts are monstrously misappropriated. Billions on airport security and during tests the FBI is still able to smuggle bombs through the security systems. But yeah, if you're smoking pot at a coffeeshop, watch out.
That's a blatantly unfair characterization of our police work here in the U.S.A. We also spend money to have them stake out bathrooms to make sure no gay men are tapping their wingtip shoes at one another. Or as we like to call it, "Real police work."
We will never be able to be big with the boys if you keep stopping our attacks.
Germany has a history of being very capable of dealing with terrorist threats.
A personal favourite of mine is the "suicide" commited by one of the members of the "rote armé fraction" - terrorist cell.
This member commited suicide in jail by shooting herself in the head. Two times.
Should have fired 3 times kneecaps first.
No surprise here, Germans do everything better.
It isn't mentioned it because that is them doing their job. Harrassing civilisans isn't part of the job description and as such it gets mentioned.
Good to hear it worked.
Germany a succesful track record in preventing terrorism? Far from it. More correct would be: Terrorism Central. For obvious reasons, the German state has been very reluctant over the past decades in it's use of force and surveillance against citizens.
As a result, terrorist have been able to operate from and in Germany with considerable succes. Palestians, Libyans, Germans, Irish, East Germans / communists, Saudis, Turks and Kurds have used Germany as a target. Or, more frequently, as a base to operate from. And as an easy country to attack a third party.
9-11 has raised the stakes in counter-terrorism, and Germany has become more decisive and resolute in anti-terror measures.
