Faction X crashes my game on return from battlemap!
This have happened to me twice, and it has become somewhat of a great nuisance lately.
Description
It seems that faction X causes the game to crash on return from battlemap, when the script is activated. When the script is not activated however, I do not experience any CTDs. Note that engagements with any other factions (with script activated) is not causing CTDs (except for the ordinary wait-30 seconds-unless-you-want-a-CTD-CTD).
Round 1 - Romani VS Lusotanni
First time I encountered this problem was when I was just a couple of settlements left of conquering the Lusotanni territories. It did not have the time to become any greater problem, as I soon conquered the Lusotanni and with the faction dead, the CTDs stopped.
Round 2 - Pahvala VS Arche Selekeuia
Same story here, only that I'm playing as Pahvala and the faction crashing the game is AS, which is annoying as shit due to the vastness of the AS Empire. Although I managed to conquer my way up to Edessa before the crashes started, I still have alot of land left to conquer, making the rest of the campaign very painful.
Summary
So, what can I do? Should I deactivate the script (and how do I do that?) every time I'm about to engage the faction that is causing the CTDs?

You can start with installing the fixes and reading up on the frequent issues. Post back if you still have problems.

All fixes installed, and none of the frequent issues seems to fit my problem. It could be the "saving right before a battle"-issue but then again I don't get CTDs when battling other factions.

The reform marker spam could still be affecting your campaign, and it there are tons of buildings in one settlement the game will crash when some AI faction tries to build another.
However, what you describe seems to me to be similar to this:

There is no certain way to fix this, but there are currently three ways that I know of that are reported to minimize or eliminate them.
* Leave the battle summary open for 10-15 seconds instead of closing it right away.
* Replace <RTW>/EB/data/world/.../map_regions.tga with <RTW>/corrected_regions.tga. Delete map.rwm and do not use the trivial script to start EB the next time around. After quitting EB again, copy the newly generated map.rwm file into sp game backup.
* Try the suggestion of Theages in this thread.
Except that the game starts loading before it happens, that is. Still, you can try the workarounds and see if it helps. Also, if you've saved right before a battle, try to load an earlier save and don't do this.
Possibly you are killing both the enemy faction leader and heir in the same battle? That is known to cause crashes, and is easily avoided by letting one of them escape the battle.
If indeed the problem is the script (and I don't think that's active when loading the campaign map from a battle), the best way is probably to find a situation where the crash always occurs with the script activated, and then disable parts of the script to zero down on the problematic part. If you can post a savegame with this, I can do that tedious work.

My CTD is similar to this one, although it only affects one specific faction and only when the script is activet. I shall return to the game now and try not to save right before the battles and see if it improves stability...
