The Campaign: British Isles
Welcome to the first Validus Regnum preview of the campaign map, currently being prepared for the Beta version. VR aims to have complete historical accuracy in representing everything from family trees, to bishops, to units, to minor factions. The Beta version will use vanilla units, but include the campaign map shown below, as well as the artwork of the very talented Vazul's Ghost through faction symbols, banners, and other artwork.
This first preview is of the British Isles. This will be a much more interesting area of the map than it had been in vanilla, and will now include four factions through England, Scotland, Ireland, and Norway. Scotland now includes the settlements that were most important in 1073 AD. Alt Clut, modern day Dumbarton, represents the Brythonic Kingdom of Strathclyde, only recently incorporated into the realm of the King of Alba. Dunkeld is at this time the capital of the Kingdom, while the rebellious Lulach, son of Macbeth, holds the title of King of Moray. Ireland has been transformed since vanilla, gaining four regions as opposed to one, and with a whole new faction. Northumbria has been added to England, while Wales is now represented through 'Minor Factions', as the Kingdom of Gwynedd. All in all, Britannia looks a lot more interesting than it previously did.
