Sorta freeze on non-player processing
I've his a weird bug and can't find a cure on previous forum requests.
I'm running 1.1 and all runs fine. I'm playing as the Greek Cities and have got to summer 235 BCE, but when I click the new turn button the game gets to the Lusotana faction and just stops. Not a freeze - I can still get the option menu up and the map is still animating, but the game won't move past the Lusotana.
So I went back a few saves and swiftly turn clicked into winter 234 BCE. No problem, so I went back and played properly... and got the halt at the Lusotana again.
The game is clearly processing something too big - I've left it to itself for a couple of hours and it doesn't move on. I'd just turn click past the propblem again, but that won't stop it randomly happening again.
Does anyone know a cure?
Thanks.
Here's the save:

Try disableling the fog of war then check the Follow AI characters in Game Options.

Many thanks for the help, but...
Sorry to be ignorant, but how do I disable the fog of war? I can't find a switch for it in the game options.
The game is already set to Follow AI characters.
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
to disable the Fog of war you need to type disable_fow in the game console(click the ` button in you'r keyboard)
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
Actually, it's "toggle_fow".
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
You could always just go to Preferences in your EB folder.

That only works if you start a new campaign, apparently. And that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.
I've watched what happened with the fog of war toggled off. Everything runs fine until it gets to the Lusotans, and then nothing happens. No map freeze, but no movement of any Lusotan units either.
Please can some wise soul make a suggestion about how to fix the problem? It'll drive me nuts to drop my lovely Greek Cities campaign this far in, and I'd hate the feeling of waiting for the sky to fall again if I have to start a fresh EB campaign without knowing if this weird freeze might hit again.
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
I swear there's a guide on how to properly report a CTD or freeze...
EDIT: Btw, this is sort of the wrong forum to post this. Here's the EB Bugs Reports: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=127
Read the stickies first, I guess? I dunno, I never had any CTD's (exception from the RTW memory leakage thing).
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
I've tried going back to a previous save and playing from there. Igot to go ahead several turns, but now am getting the freeze on the Sweboz move.
Again, with FoW turned off, the game just gets to the Sweboz and stops. The map is animating and I can get up the options menu, but the Swboz forces just sit there unmoving.
Here's the save where it's the Sweboz, rather than the Lusotans on strike:

Has anyone else has this bug?
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
I had that once when I had an older computer. Pressing SPACE got past it, I think.
Edit: I merged your two threads with the same issue.
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
Thanks very much for the advice.
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
But, unfortunately, hitting SPACE doesn't move the turn on.
Drat and double drat.
Re: Sorta freeze on non-player processing
You should try to teleport over a unit into their territory. Smack around their armies with auto_win to see if it makes any difference. You can also take control over the faction and end their turn or cancel their construction etc. You can see how to take control in the frequent issues.
