Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Hi all,
Just as the title suggests. I want to mod EB so I can/the AI can recruit those armoured troops from Iberia and those ones from Ireland. But will that make my current Rome campagin unplayable?
Thanks in advance

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
No. Doing so will not affect your save-game.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Thanks...
HHmmm this should have been in my original post but how do I do it?
-
Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Remove " and hidden_resource not_here" from the end of all the units' recruitment lines.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Don't really want to make a new thread for this, so I will just ask the question here: is changing the units stats save-game compatible?

Almost all? If it isn't too much to ask, do you happen to know which ones are incompatible? Unit size perhaps?

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
It doesn't like it when you're messing with traits.

I had the EDU in mind, not the EDCT, if that is what you're talking about.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Sorry to be a pain...
I've found the file I need to alter but their is thousands of lines of code to look through. This maybe a little and cheeky but is there any chance some one could post there modded file for download?
To allow removed units that is.
Thanks

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Thanks for that Pinkkiller!

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Hi, im interested in doing the same thing as Conan, but when you mean all units do you mean the ones you want to mod back in or the hundereds of units in eb? Also, I have vista and everytime i try to mod the edu and press save in notebook, it wont let me. It says its not a valid file, anyone know of this problem with vista? When i had xp it worked jsut fine. thnxs

Why do you have Vista in the first place? Did it come with the computer?

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
I can't speak for others, but I got Vista for DX10. It's only a matter of time before all games require DX10.
And on the paranoid side, it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft put a killswitch in WindowsXP that kills/slows down your computer after a time forcing you to eventually upgrade.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
hmm, i live in california, my laptop is fairly new and so new computers pretty much only have vista. Havent seen any at stores with xp still. Does anyone know the answer to my question?

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Have you got EB installed under Program Files, perhaps?
-
Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
No, i installed it into a "tw" folder on the desktop, and it plays fine.
-
Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Right-click the file you're editing, and go to "properties". If "read-only" is checked, you should uncheck it.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Try Wordpad instead of Notepad. Or get Notepad++ (Google it).

Sorry for OT but this is just ludicrous.
Why would you post such a baseless FUD?

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Firstly, it was partly a joke. Secondly, I am a cynic.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Well, I'm sorry if I took it too seriously but after XP SP3 (which gave a nice speed boost to the old OS) it sounded like fanboism to my ears.
Oh, and Vista is extremely underestimated, it really starts shining after some tweaks (basically shut down what you don't need at start and the file indexing for a nice speed bost)...

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
Well, I'm definately not a fan of Vista, if that's what you thought.

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
This thread is getting off-topic, but since MAA is talking about operating systems, I guess I can ask a question as well: does anyone actually prefer Vista (in its current state) to XP?

I wouldn't get back to XP except for the rare compatibility problem, I got a 2004 pentium 4 3ghz with 1gb of ram and after almost 2 years of Vista no slow downs at all unlike XP...
MAA: I had more like apple/linux in mind with the whole anti MS propaganda...

Re: Will allowing removed units make my game non-save compatiable?
I dislike Appple/Mac too. Not because of any technical reason but, ironically, due to Mac fanboys and the whole culture involved in Macs.
But anyways, this topic is way off track and not EB related. That is mostly my fault, though. Sorry.
