Are farts funny in every culture?
I always kind of thoughts farts would be funny in just about every culture in a personal and casual setting.
I can picture Osama Bin Laden and Mohammed Atta and the rest of the AQ bunch sitting in a cave and plotting 9/11:
Atta: "So once we are in the air, we shall pull out our boxcutters and hastily head for..."
Bin Laden: braaapppppp
*Silence in Cave*
AL Qaeda together: hahahahahahahaha
Would anybody disagree?
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
Probably anytime when drinking is involved.
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
Try farting casually and loudly on a bus. :laugh4:
In other words, no, I don't really think they are funny...
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind...
I think it is situational as to the humour of it.- Was it accidental or leg-lift-arm-pump fired?
- How close are you to the source?
- Who is the "audience"? By that I mean age and sex.
- What is the surrounding/situation...class...church...bus ride home from a long day of work?
- What is the sound quality? Silent (smell only), pop, squeaker, or rip?
I don't think you are guaranteed a laugh in all situations.
Unfortunately, the in-depth analytical nature of these questions might lead one to believe I actually studied this. I haven't, but I'm certain I'd get a passing grade. :drummer: <rimshot>
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
I'm just suggesting that in the appropriate setting, people of all cultures would offer a snicker or chuckle at a well-timed rip.
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
So, Div, you think, humour-wise, fart are flatulent in all languages and cultures? Perhaps an analysis or worldwide sales of whoopie cushions might help verify your viewpoint.
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
:inquisitive:
Pan-flatulence?
:inquisitive:
At last, the common link upon which we can build world peace has been found!
Divinus, I salute you sir!

Yeah, I can just picture Cheney in a cabinet meeting asking G. Dubya to pull his finger, and George falls for it, again.
Flatulence humor as a cultural bridge...hey why not we gotta start somewhere.
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
Depends .. I guess.
To me public farting is ALWAYS funny and I usually laugh out loud.
To my wife however, farting is childish and frowned upon. She gives me those icy looks when a situation occurs where fatulence is involved, even if I was not the originator.
It's like she dares me to laugh. :brood:
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
I really don't get the funny. It's tasteless.

So, a quick question:
Why do you continue to sit there?
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
Farts are funny as long as you can hear them before you smell them*. And only among men.
Re: Are farts funny in every culture?
If I were a professional wrestler my signature move would be “the Dutch Oven” :laugh4:
