Tip/ Advice for starting a new AS campaign

Hi guys,

Can peeps tell me any advice/ tips for starting a new AS campaign?

Such as how to deel with unrest in the east and or if there is anyway of gaining more cash early on,

Well, watch out for the rebels. There are always so many of them. And they might be aggressive too. I ended my AS campaign in 265 BC after Gabai was attacked by rebel armies. These were sizeable rebel armies, against my 1 unit of Pantodapoi.

Is it your first time playin a phalanx faction? Because if it is, there are more tricks and stuff that's good to know to survive at least a bit more that desert did (no offense meant, really).

When playing H/M(if higer, these advices almost at all will be useless):
-in central regions raise taxes as max as possible
- move capital to Seleucia
-leave Marakanda and Alexandria-Eschate; raise taxes to max and sell all buldings, units will be VERY important to fight against Pahlava
-leave Asaaka with your FM(his 80 bodyguards-babylonian spearmen-will be priceless!!), raise taxes to max and sell all buildings; this city is lost. Prepare heavy defences in city south of Asaaka, bulid them regional barracks immediately and start recruit persian archers, later archer-spearmen and persian spearmen; expect heavy fights there but in my opinion tou must win theses fights, and start crushing Pahlava, if U give them time...:thumbsdown:
-Bactria and Saka will fight each other at the beginning so dont worry them
-Pontos-is to weak at the beginning to attack U; dont worry
-Hayasdan-U have a lot of time, they are very weak and passive. Expect some actions after a long time
-Ptolemaioi-CRUSH THEM, RUSH THEM, HARRAS THEM, DONT GIVE THEM TIME!!!!; gather forces near Antiochia from all other cities, recruit more pandanopoi phalangites and conquer Tarsos, then make quick attack on Salamis(use Your fleet from Minor Asia); after than start pushing Ptolemaio south; during this operation start gathering army in Asia Minor and when U will do it, attack their only city there(I forgot name)
-change gov from IV to I in Babylon
-change gov in Ka..., north from Antiochia,from IV to I
-conquer Byzation and make there III or IV gov; great units for Ur army
-pandanopoi phalangites are good unit all the time, during whole campaign; cheap, easy available, good stats+ap secondary weapon
-improve mines in Gabai, Sardis and city east from Persepolis as fast as U can
-in Sardis, Ipsos, Antiochia and Seleucia bulid temples of Seleukos; in other cities build temples of Marduk

At first, kick out ptolemaoi from Asia.They are you're strongest enemy.Don't worry if you loose some eastern cities in the biggining,you'll take them back later.Attack only enemy factions.You're worst fear is to go to war with all the factions that surrounds you.

I'd also suggest changing your government in Hekatompylos (city S of Asaak) from a "Type 2" to a "Type 3" so you can build the regional barracks there to the highest effective level possible. This will give you the ability to recruit heavy cavalry there (Kinsmen/Khuveshavagan), which will come in handy until you get the Kataphraktoi reform. Make sure you build a palisade as soon as possible there also, or else you WILL lose that city to Pahlava.
