Are they throwing themselves off the wall?
yes. they commiting mass suicide
cool pic for the screenshot competition
LoL I saw soldiers falling down the walls occasionally but I never saw a mass suicide like that. Bug?
"Arabian Lemmings", lol.
Funny you mention this, as I've had the exact same experience as you in the past. That was way back when I played XGM: I had my Spartan Royal Guard numbering 100 men (IIRC) on a wall that I had just captured from an enemy, ordered them to get down and next moment I was seing their numbers fallins so rapidly (I had turned my camera elsewhere), that I was scared shitless. When I double-clicked on them, I saw only a handful going down from the walls, while a great pile of bronze men was laying on the ground just below where they where stationed before I ordered them to come down... It was really frustrating...
Maion
this has happened to me before as well, but only a handful of men fell off the wall. by the way, those are some really good screenshots, especially the second one.
OMFG LOLOLOLOL wow thats insane stuff right there XD
Hey guys, I bet if we all jump off some of us will get soft landings! You go first!
Anyway, I've had it happen before. Usually it's individuals that panic while fighting on the walls, but I've also seen it like here without provocation. I think it's a pathfinding bug when the walls are knocked down.
Yeah, it has happened to me as well, quite a bit of times actually, but I never had more than 5 men die during a single battle from this pathfinding bug. This always happens during wall battles and it has happened to my men even when they were just moving. Every time this has happened to my units while they were not fighting was when there were two much men on the same stretch of a wall. Jams happened and the next thing you know, people are falling. The Arabian slingers aren't jam-packed though. Odd.
It could be connected to the undermined portion of a wall right by those slingers. I remember sapping a wall, killing a bunch of AS phalangites who happened to be standing right in the same place the undermining was done, and then a two minutes later, a couple of them fell from the wall for seemingly no reason. They weren't moving either.
mmh I once lost a batle of syracusea with the juliai against the scipiai(damn I dont even know anymore how to spell those factions) by having all my legionarys fall between the wall and my siege tower (worst moment ever!)
I suffered such a trauma I didn't used siege towers for over 2 years
Not being able to spell them is a good thing, as you've gotten off vanilla completely it seems:laugh4: Anyway, I'll play the geek and say it anyway: It's Julii and Scipii:sweatdrop:
Maion
I've had that happen many times. It is definately tied to the damage to the wall. You just have to never move units on a wall that are near a whole, even if they are unharmed by the making of it.
Scipio was only a cognomen from the gens Cornelia. and the Brutii are also incorrect, it was also a cognomen from the Iunia. The Julii are the only (playable) faction wich is correct
"We will land safely, inshallah"?
It’s raining men, hallelujah!:clown:
what did you do to those poor arabians?
"Slinger Paratrooper"
A screenshot competition winer!
wait, do those Arabian slingers belong to Carthage?
I am visiting persepolis and some cities in india. Just to sack them and leave. (becouse I cant keep them becouse of the public order). But this city I left my army to sail home with my genreal. They are just mercendaries. My genreal has been all over the world. Now I am planning to send him to scandinavia and britannia.
Mercenary advertisement: Arabian mercenary lemmings. they are mercenary Arabians, except that they are lemmings. when they exceed 60 men, they jump themselves of the wall*. now they come in bundles of 60 men, for the bargain price of around 600 mnai, and a guarantee that they will not not commit suicide.
*food , slings, and clothing sold seperately. Batteries not included.
actually, In shā'a allāhu is one of many possibilities for the ancient arab: try in shā'at illātu, or inshā'at il3uzza, or in shā'at mināt, or in shā'a qais, and so one and so forth. since they are commiting suicide, and they are with carthage, (and probaly hence from western arabia try in shā'a dhū sharā :clown:
arabian suicide squad, Like those on tv that blow up busses. But they dont have explosives yet.
Please don't go there. You're not only offending me, but also Ibrahim, methinks. I don't really feel offended, but it's a rather silly comment.Quote:

As a less offensive alternative to Ludawig's joke - they're basically like the crack suicide squad from Monty Python's Life of Brian. -M
True, though that should not be a reason to just say stuff like that.
It's not that it hurts me personally (hey, I wore my scarf like a turban to warm my ears to school the other day and I had to live through all the "suicide bomber" comments) but it is a comment which really, really shows the Western way of thinking:
Arab = Muslim
