Re: Ministers and Government
Blimey you sound like me about a week ago . No I know what you mean, there are some sadistic programmers out there. I hope you can move around governers too, or at least arrange an "accident".
I never really paid that much attention to governors to be honest, I was too busy off killing stuff which is probably why I came unstuck at the end haha. To be honest like I've said before I'm happy with a bit of micro management. Gives you a break I think from the killing and violence.
Re: Ministers and Government
Personally I never spent too much time on this, my governors have always seems to do just fine even with bad traits. It's rare if they would actually make less money with one than without. Either way, the trait systems seems to be redone, in the 4/5 video Washington only has 2 traits after all. I do wish we have more info in this regard as well.
Re: Ministers and Government
Hopefully, calling elections will kick some of your bad ministers out. I hope there won't be as many traits in Empire as there were in Medieval 2.
Re: Ministers and Government
perhaps you can challenge him to a duel, but lose and he gains more prestige and power...... oh even more game evilness

Corrupt politicians, anyone? That could be an interesting feature... :laugh4:
Re: Ministers and Government
I can't remember where I read it, but a Dev said that there will be less Traits than in past games. Hopefully this will diminish their effects. I really don't like the huge amounts of Traits that can develope over time and I don't enjoy that part of the game. There are so many that I usually ignore them. I would like to consider them, but only if there are a few major ones per Character. Hopefully this is the way CA is heading.
Re: Ministers and Government
You ignore traits? Do you also blitz the map?
Roleplaying your characters increase the game's fun factor a thousandfold, and traits help in this matter (provided they're well-made).
Re: Ministers and Government
I think you've played a tad too much EB Meth, do you remember the vanilla trait system in Rome? At least M2TW's is better imo, but both are pretty meh.
Re: Ministers and Government
I want to get to know and appreciate my generals and ministers through their traits, which made MTW2 all the more frustrating since my guv's seemed to turn out terrible no matter what I did.

Pfffft! I know I shouldn't expect a lot, but CA should at least put in a good effort. If they have to, delay the game until Spring! For my part, I've been playing a lot of M2TW this last while, and I still stand by what I said: roleplaying your characters increase the game's fun factor a thousandfold, and traits help in this matter. It's a shame that they are not too well-made at times.

ROFLOL! They already have in a sense!
As I recall the spring equinox is around March 21st…..Did you want the game released April 1:jester:?
On a more serious note.
One delay is okay but two usually means the game has serious troubles…people loose interest and have serious doubts…it may only be perception but it is much better if they don’t delay again!
Re: Ministers and Government
Heh heh, I meant May. As long as it's out by summer, I really don't care. Let's just hope the "infamous thing" is actually playable. :laugh4:
Re: Ministers and Government
I agree with Fisherking. One delay looks like prudence, no one wants an unfinished game. Another delay begins to look like something is wrong. If CA need to delay the game again I will certainly start to think that they have bitten off more than they can chew and tried to be too ambitious.
I would rather the game be released in a timely fashion with one or two bugs. After all we have a huge number of extremely talented bug fixers and balances right here on the Org. If it needs a new coat of paint and a few holes patched up then they are definitely skilled enough to do it. :2thumbsup:
Re: Ministers and Government
:focus:
Crocked Politicians?
It isn’t like we will be dealing with the likes of Walpole or any of his ilk is it?
Or any diplomatic service and ministers noted for corruption in the period, like say France?
What was I thinking when I worried about negative traits of these people robbing my treasury and bleeding me white for anyway?
Surly we will all be rich and happy with wonderful armies who only go on parade but never campaign and the gold of trade will just fill all the coffers to the brim.
:laugh4:
Would anyone like to buy a wonderful property in southern Louisiana! It has some wonderful wild life you know, and only a short trip from town….
:yes::croc:
Re: Ministers and Government
Crooked politicians seems to be a bit redundant to me. Surely the politician part of it is all you need to get the message across? :laugh4:
Cutting edge political satire aside, I hope we can get the odd minister are two who is dipping his hand where he shouldn't be. It will be fun finding out who is corrupt and having him assasinated and/or chopped into small pieces and isplayed in my capital.

It might actually be interesting watching that politician cling to power, despite residing in a "Republic".

It would be interesting to see a corrupt politician worm his way higher up the ranks until maybe he attemted to declare himself 'Lord Protector' or 'President for Life' it might be one of the ways a country could go from Republic to Monarchy.
Re: Ministers and Government
I prefer the title, "First Consul." :laugh4:
