Glorious Achievements (Will Empire have Achievements?)

Achievements. Little awards you get for completing a certain task in-game. Mostly completely pointless, but good for those of us who like collecting and completing challenges.

Recently achievements have popped up in many games released on Steam. Half Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead all have them. Maybe Empire will have something similar for us to collect.

In keeping with the theme of warfare it would be great if completing certain goals in game unlocked 'medals'. Things like winning the campaign with a certain faction or winning with a certain amount of prestige.

Once these medals were earned they could be viewed in a 'trophy room' and shown off to friends and family.

Thoughts? Would this be good or bad? What sort of achievements would you like to see?

Just a quick example of what I mean:

By completing the game while playing as Britain you could unlock the achievement. Rule, Britannia. This would then give you a fancy Britain themed medal to view in your trophy room.

I think it would be fun if the game awards great people in your empire with "legendary status" or something like that. So, if you have a general who serves many years and racks up enough victories, he becomes a national hero ala washington or nelson.

I was right! The recent Multiplayer trailer confirms that Empire will indeed feature Steam Achievements! Called it! *Does embarressingly enthusiastic victory dance* :elephant::dancing::cheerleader::dancinglock:
