Overall, I think the industry in question is sound. This is just Larry Flynt being Larry Flynt, trying to get a rise out of Congress, making a point and trying to show how ridiculous the bailout mania is. If the public ever got an actual full accounting of how the TARP funds and the AIG loans were spent, there would be probably be riots. This was just one final raid on the Treasury by the administration for their buddies, and Congress fell for it.
