im the english and im on turn 52 and i still havent taken france or denmark. i have scotland and ireland but everytime i go after france i get threatened with excommunication. i took angers but paris is well prepared for siege and the pope give me 4 turns to leave france alone but paris takes 7 turns to besiege. anyway around pope? if im excommunicated im guessing ill have a crusade sent my way if i so anymore to piss him off? im taking my time and trying to stay honorable towards the pope but im in disfavor. help :) how can i continue my attacks without being excommunicated

Meh, in before the delete/move.
What I would, and do do in your situation is ignore the pope. Unless your really unlucky you won't get crusaded on. Take Paris and whatever else, then go kill the Pope. Bam the new one probably will still not like you but since you already have the lands you want, you can sit there rebuilding your armies and throwing money at him till he likes you again.

Tut tut Nelson, you should have edited the bad word out :tongue: Never fear.
As for your problem, I suggest just working around the pope. If you are that keen to stay in his graces, just attack until he forces you to stop, but keep the siege going. When the turns have run out, start more sieges. He wont excom you for continuing sieges, and if they sally, theres no blame on you.
The way to victory, however, is to accept the fact you will be excomm'd and simply ignore it.

Either igore the pope altogether or start paying him with huge amound of florins, it does help a Catholic faction if you ally yourself with the pope.
