Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
I think it's time to officially announce the Teutonic Hotseat Campaign 2.
The game will be played with Kingdoms 1.5 and the Teutonic Campaign.
A short list of rules:
-48 hour turns
-Console enabled game (with admin faction, basically so if someone drops out and a replacement can't be found the faction can be switched to AI).
-Battles playable
-No cheats (including the blatant kind as well as the 20 merchants in a fort on a single resource one. ).
There are six factions in the Teutonic campaign, Denmark, the HRE, Poland, The Order, Lithuania, and Novgorod. Only three have been selected thus far.
Current player player/faction list:
Ignoramus-Novgorod
Redemption- The Order
TheFlax-Denmark
Ramses II CP-Poland
Prince of Graal- Holy Roman Empire
Tristan de Castelreng-The Mongols
Zim-Lithuania

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Evidently Poland is unpopular, so I'll take Poland.
:egypt:

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Poland has the best cities, and is situated between a couple other factions... :sweatdrop:
They actually have a great deal of potential with their latin units and well developed settlements. :beam:

Wanted to see what I was in for. :laugh4:
:egypt:
I forgot about that. Yeah, the campaign has unlockable factions. I think a variation of the method used to manually unlock factions for the regular game works here as well.
You can still play Poland from the hotseat save either way since I'll be starting it, but I know I always like to look at my faction in SP just to get the hang of how developed the settlements are, etc.
Looks like everyone's picked a faction. I'll take the HRE to help fill out the western end of the map. We'll wait a bit before starting to see if anyone else wants to join. At the latest I'm thinking of starting tomorrow.

I must be one of the least terrifying players in the Throne Room actually. :clown:

I don't know buddy, I found your capitulation quite chilling

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
I was absolutely terrified. Only my pathetically easy defeat in the Teutonic campaign comes close to as frightening. ~;)

:boxedin:~~:mecry::eeeek: Oh, it was. That might be better attributed to the guy who completely ruined them before disappearing. I'm not sure there was anything you could do.

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
We might want to wait for someone to go as Lithuania at least. Without them, the Teutonic campaign could be a bit lame.
If no one shows up for Lithuania, I might just take the Danes, and leave the AI to fight it out between the Brothers and the Pagans.
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
We'll see about getting at least one more player. I want to make sure no region on the map ends up empty...
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Lithuania is one of the weaker factions. It might be hard to get a player.
How about I play Lithuania and we get one more player for Denmark or the HRE?
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Surely not weaker than the -2500 king's purse deficit prone Mongols? :clown:
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Not quite that weak but then most people aren't crazy enough to play the Mongols. :clown:
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
I figure that when I am inevitably utterly crushed and destroyed, I can blame it all on my faction and not on my poor skills. :clown:
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
A tried and true hotseat tactic. In the Britannia campaign I expected to lose since all the other factions have all the reason in the world to team up on England. Then Ireland betrayed everyone. :clown:

No need if you prefer the HRE. I don't mind rampaging through the AI's lands :2thumbsup:

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Start advertising guys! We must get these last two slots filled.
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
I actually kind of like Lithuania. They were my favorite faction playing Single Player.

Ignoramus Can we advertise in the Citadel without our thread being closed? I didn't think FH liked hotseats being advertised.
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
If no one else joins, I guess I'll pick a real faction. After being briefed on many of the faction's "features", my excitement at playing the Mongols is somewhat lessened.
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Just received word from TheFlax that he's switching to Denmark. Things were even worse for the Mongols that I thought. They don't seem to be meant as a player faction (and I don't mean the negative King's Purse).
Depending on how things go I might switch to Lithuania to give the Order someone to fight.
The upshot is if the Mongols aren't viable we only need one more player. I'll wait a day to see if one shows up. Then we start.

I can't see why not. If FH doesn't like it, he'll close it, but all we need is one player so I'd give it a go.

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Might be worth a try. I've also pmed a couple people I know here...
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
If someone taught me how to do the hotseat (what I need etc)
I'll play as one of the not taken factions :sultan:
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Welcome, Prince of Graal!
Hotseat is very easy. All you need is Medieval2: Total War and the Kingdoms expansion. Basically, each player does his turn, saves the game and passes it onto the next player. Zim can probably explain better than I can, but it's very easy.
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Cool!
Can you email it?
I never new it was that simple
Which factions are available?
Oh and is 1.5 a patch or the Kingdoms installed??
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Kingdoms is 1.3, you need to DL the annoyingly large 1.5 patch.
The game is not started yet since there is still 1 fation to fill up, yours if you want it: the Holy Roman Empire. Once we start, the first player plays his turn and then uploads the file somewhere and posts the link for the save so that the next player can take it up. On your first turn, the game asks you for a password which you have to enter before doing your turn. Once you're turn is done, you press the turn button and the screen asking for the next person's password should show up. Press escape and save the file (probably with some predetermined name), upload it and post the link.
We'll probably have a diplomacy thread to argue and bicker between ourselves as to the fate of the North + PMs for secret negociations.
Now a few tips that might help you:
1- You DON'T get to fight your DEFNSIVE battles, but you DO get to play your OFFENSIVE battles, which means being the attacker is always a major advantage. It also means an exposed army is a vulnerable army.
2- A defeated army in a settlement or fort is completely destroyed. Players tend to use spies and siege equipment to bypass a siege so as not to leave their armies vulnerable to counter-attack. Which means: make a hell lot of spies!
3- They'll never expect you from the sea. If you can disembark, destroy a stack or take a settlement and leave no army exposed in doing so, you'll probably catch your enemies unawares.
4- Surprise is always a key element of a hotseat. Knowing what your enemies are up to, hiding your own movements, etc. is key. Players are sneaky, sneaky.
5- Last but not least, if you can do it, so can your ennemies! And since they're players and not the AI, they will, so be prepared!
Now let's start this game and :smash::smash::smash: some pagans!
-
Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
Do you where there is a website to upload saves?
Oh I'll play as HRE and Arrghh Can't find a download place for 1.5
Lets go and~:argue: some Pagans!!
Thanks for the Tips Redemption it going to help considering I've never done this kind of Hotseat!
EDIT Download the right file...(hopefully)

Re: Teutonic Campaign Hotseat 2
You can upload your files right here at the .Org.
In the little grey bar on top, simply select "Site Tools", a drop down menu will appear. Select "Links&Files", its the first one. Then in the categories you pick "PBM" and "2008". Simply "Add Entry" from the little grey bar below the other one. Remember to compress your save in a .zip format or something similar.
Hmmm, maybe there is a simpler way, but I don't know it. :clown:
