EDIT:
Guide for Beginners: http://awbw.amarriner.com/wiki/index..._Wars_Training
CO (Commanding Officer) Explanation- Each CO has special power, each CO is different from the other. Picking a CO specific CO for each map and/or is paramount for victory in Advanced Wars. It is CO powers that can turn the tables of a game, rescuing you from the jaws of defeat to giving a crushing blow on your opponents (For example, imagining you are CO Eagle, and have a large air force, but your opponent's army is about to capture your base, and all your airforce isn't enough to destroy his army capturing your HQ.
Here's a chart with the powers of each CO, so you need to know who to choose in your future orgah battles: http://awbw.amarriner.com/co.php
Furthermore, some CO's powers make some units stronger and other weakers, and you have to take into account that. For instance, I used CO Sonja in the First Great Orgah War because the map had fog of war, and Sonja's powers allow my troops to view further into the Fog of War. Now if the map had no fog of war, her powers would be useless. Thus you have to pick a CO according to the map situation.

Firstly what the hell is this about!

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
Awesome, sign me up. Advance Wars is something I can win at. Fire Emblem's still better, though.
When's the game start? Don't worry about Megatanks, if you can't change it now, and it's that big of a deal, we'll just agree not to build them.
EDIT: Sorry, there, Sigurd. The potentially offensive text has been edited out.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
Careful with the religious expletives guys. Reference to the place is ok, but using it to make your sentences more forceful is ... :mean:
I am not going to hand out any warnings as we have allowed the use in games for narrative purposes or players IC.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
First Great Orgah War has started!
EDIT: Chaotix, it's ur turn.
EDIT 2: Added a beginners guide and link to CO Power Chart, after seeing YLC pick CO Eagle in a map without any airports.

Look at the first post, it has the guide for beginners there, as well as the CO Powers chart.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
May I join this new game as well, Jolt, or would you rather have other players for it? BTW, my turn's done in Game 1- YLC's up.

BUMP! we need one more...

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
I've joined the second game as well. As such, Jolt's turn is up for both.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
Done away with my turns. In the Second Great War, the Twin CO Jess Team will win! :D (e.g. me and Chaotix27)
-
Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
Created two public 1v1 orgah games. One with fog, another without fog.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
:laugh4:
It seems we think alike. I figured this map, being large, land-based, and full of open space, would totally lend itself to a tank-based fight. Thus, I picked Jess for maximum tank pwnage. For most other games, when in doubt I use Sasha.

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!

Well I've picked Sasha and we'll see who ahem..PWNz who...
YLC, Team B buddy?, tis your turn.

Just quoting the Mafia rulez here:
Quote:
3. Friendliness. Be nice to our new and old players. We should also strive to help new players feel welcome. Words or comments like n00b are specially frowned upon.
And I am gonna give TinCow a major infraction for daring to use the word in the Godfather game. :smartass2:

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
:laugh4:
If you'd like to get all technical, Sigurd:
1. This isn't even a mafia game.
2. She was calling herself a n00b.
And it's all in good fun, anyway.
-
Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
A rule is a rule :smash:.
And I should have called it a Gameroom rule.
It is only frowned upon, so no danger of any smiting.
Therefore ... :mean:
:beam:

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
Dear Sigurd,
As Chaotix pointed out, I was referring to myself as a 'n00b', but as with all words deemed offensive, it is the way they are used rather than the word itself which can cause offence. I have an inbred cynicism for most rules, but where their application of them is obviously the sign of a healthy and vital gaming community, I am of course happy to adhere, courteously :laugh4:, to guidelines.
I certainly didn't cause any offence to myself by branding my inexperience of AWBW firmly on my sleeve, and hope there was no lasting damage done to the sensibilities of my fellow Orgahs, or indeed the loving Moderators, who give of their own hearts and souls to ensure that this place is a happy place. Now I hope my gift of flowers will help you alleviate that stern frown from underneath your assassins cowl and brings a smile to that rugged northern grill piece.

A promise is a promise ... :laugh4:
Now go hence and speak no more of it.
Oh and thank you for the daisies :stare:

Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
I read the rules i think (and there werent many) but im still confused, like in the middle the number 99 keeps coming up, i go to drag the number of try something but, nothing happens :inquisitive:
-
Re: Advanced Wars by Web!
99? O_o You just have to click on Factories. It gives you a list of units possible to build, and their costs. Afterwards, these units appear on your battlemap. You have to wait until next turn to get them moving. The next turn, you click on the units and select move, and some red squares appear, indicating to where they can move in that turn. If you move Infantry or Mech to empty cities or factories, you can click on the units again and order them to capture the building. It depends on how much energy your unit has. Every building has 20 capture points, and if your units are at full HP (10), you capture the building in two turns, and it starts giving you funds to build more units. If your unit has less energy, than it takes more than two turns to capture the building (Depending on the health of the unit which is capturing the building). For instance, if one Infantry unit you built was to capture a building, but had suffered damage from an attack and had only 6 HP, then it would take 6 Capture points per turn, taking 4 turns to capture the building (Reaching the 20 points).
