Ok, check online news or newspapers for articles. Something about oil may be a good bet, but that might be an over-studied topic.
Edit: Bloomberg might be a good place to look. I think I read an article about oil there a few days ago that would suit your task.

The obvious references are The Economist and the Financial Times
I think you should do oil too...
You can get good marks for getting away from the plain vanilla supply-demand stuff since you can write about:
a) Inelastic demand (people buy oil no matter what the price)
b) The effect of a cartel (OPEC) on an otherwise well-globalized commodity and how it affects demand by regulating supply levels.

Just look for some luxury goods at the moment. I bet you can find something about jewelry demand going down in the current economy and so the supply follows suit.
