Re: Patapon flash mini game
Would have been nice if they'd given cues for when to begin the sequences. It wasn't clear that you shouldn't enter them while your lil' dudes are chanting or whatnaught.

Listen to the steady drum beat in the background; time it to that. Enter your command, let them sing it back, enter your next without dropping the beat. If you don't start your next command on the very beat after they finish it breaks the rhythm.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
I can barely get that one guy to move, I got him to move really slowly by tapping left, left, left, right to the beat of the drums but he would just make a step on every last tap of the above sequence and complain that I'm doing it wrong, any other combination I tried just leaves him standing around.

Congratulations - your sense of rhythm is as bad as mine. :gring: This is why I never got past the early levels in the original PSP game.
Your timing must be off slightly, or you are missing a single beat. Watch the screen and you will see 'pata' and 'pon' appear when you press those buttons. If the word is in colour you got the timing right; if it's grey then you didn't. The brighter the colour the closer your timing was to perfect. You need to get all 4 on time to give the command. Then you need to try and give your next command without missing a beat after their reply.
I've found this trailer where you can watch and hear a perfect chain of march and attack commands being given. It's about 35 seconds in, and makes far more sense than a text explanation.
One other thing I love about this game: the names of the patapon types. Yumipon, yaripon (and others) - sound familiar to any Shogun vets? Yup, they are named after their weapons in Japanese.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
Awwwwww you'll get the hang of it, this game is fantastic easily my favorite psp-title.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
Cute :smiley2:. My background didn't render correctly though; some of my guys weren't where I put them (up in the air instead of where I carefully placed them).
Re: Patapon flash mini game
I think I actually did better on the PC demo than on the PSP version. Must be due to some combination of the keys being easier to tap with the beat and the sub on my PC letting me hear the beat better.
But yeah, Patapon is a cool game.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
Hmm, best so far is 95/10? assets unlocked, score was 6400somethingish. Blearg.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
If it's left, left, left, right, then movement command(like right again), then left, left, left, right, then another command and all that in the rythm, then I am simply too slow, I can get the left right thing mostly correct, but tapping the right button twice fast enough to get the left in in time afterwards I could never achieve. I'm a very slow person. :sweatdrop:
Not a game for me I guess.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
in time with the drum it's L, L, L, R ... then count with the drum as they chant 1, 2, 3, 4 without pushing anything. Then L, L, L, R, again in time with the drum etc. So between your four button pushes, in time with the drum, you wait four counts before beginning your push button sequence again. The complete sequence is eight counts, first four pushing L-L-L-R and then counting 1-2-3-4 as they chant back to you, rinse, repeat.
Re: Patapon flash mini game
Heh. Cute little game. I can see how some people find it so addictive.

Likely. After watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a kid, I couldn't get that song and the zany events of that movie out of my dreams for weeks.

It's worse than that - they're eyeballs with arms, legs and out-sized weapons. :gring:
