Really old generals

By around 1800 in the RTI campaign I was getting really old generals and admirals whenever I promoted one, like this guy, who died after only two years! (so not great value for money :P)

Anyone else had this 'problem'?

(I had conquered so little by the date in the picture because of this)

I usually get guys around 30-40.

Have you been recruiting a lot of generals in a short period? That's supposed to reduce the generals' quality.

I think when you promote someone from captain/brigadier to admiral/general.

That the age clock is ticking on the captain/brigadier for as long as he isn't promoted it isn't determined randomly, after all I get death messages for my Brigadiers and Captains too. The only way to be certain you are getting a fresh commander is by recruiting either a flagship or a generals bodyguard from a high enough barracks/shipyard.

Note that Admirals' name too , could be the C/A were really eager to give you a historical commander :laugh4:

I am playing the Dutch and my campaign is now in the year 1765. I still have the rake I started with. The poor but trustfully guy is now 95. He just spent some time in Sweden to do some reconnaissance. It can be rather cold out there.

No wonder he's 108! John Paul Jones is invicible! Everyone knows that. I completely forgot about the whole invincible thing.:wall:

This guy came out 'fresh' from a shipyard on a third rate flagship at the ripe old age of 106 :P
