Cross and Crescent: Total War - The Modpack Compilation for Kingdoms

Over the past year and a half I have been compiling many of the best mods that the M2TW modding community has produced into one, major mod for my personal enjoyment. I have toyed with the idea of releasing this work, but the task of sifting through the files and attributing this code to that modder, and so on, has proved to be so daunting that I decided that I would keep it as a personal mod. Meanwhile, the mod grew, incorporating more and more content. Then I realized that the community as a whole deserved more credit that I did for the making of this work - it was mainly their work. That's when I decided that it was my responsibility to release this mod, for the good of the community. This mod contains content from many of the best mods on this site. I can't provide many screens yet, as I have not yet received replies back from many modders, and at this point it will be difficult to show much off without using work from some of those who have not replied. The good news is that I may be able to get a custom-battle-only, very stable open beta out in the next month or two, depending on how many persmissions I get. Anyway, without further ado, here is a breakdown of the mod compilation.

Red means full-fleshed, playable factions.
Green represents minor factions. They have their own heraldry and unique troops, but no government beyond possibly a rebel faction. To see their unique troops, recruit them using the AOR system.

Wow this mod look awesome with a great faction roster: Aztecs, Timurids and Wales!

I am so going to play as England and set up a mighty English-Irish-Scottish-Wales-Aztec confederation and do a WC with me as the alliance leader.

Thanks for the reply Banzai! I'm glad you like the faction roster. I decided to go with a less realistic roster to stay true to the original CA game. Despite the detailed units in many of the faction's rosters (including some SS stuff!), I'm staying with CA's policy of gameplay over realism. This mod is going to basically be Kingdoms as it should have been.

Mayby add Kiev as the 31. playable faction?
- Ordodox ally to Novgorod and Byzantium. (Gameplay +1, Historical Accurancy +1)
- Enemy to Poland and Mongols. (Gameplay +1, Historical Accurancy +1)

... tbh your map looks more historically accurate than the original one. (If you are still working on the map I suggest that you rename Helsinki province to Finnland and its city to Turku. CA dropped the ball on the original one. Helsinki was founded 1550 and the province its located is called "new land".)

Hello. Some of you may be wondering what the situation is on this mod. I have not really done anything since July - the complicated entanglement of permissions buried within all of the text files throughout the mod ensures that I may never find anything. In addition, I had planned many changes from the current state that the mod is in (what with new factions and all). Finally, there are many bugs in the mod which are hidden, and rather serious. All these factors considered, I have not really done anything out of frustration.

The mod is too bulky and broken, with large amounts of excess code and many shells of develpoment. It is not anywhere near as streamlined as it should be, and I have no interest in continuing the process of gaining permissions and looking through files carefully, then fixing a bloated, complicated mess of code, all to create a mod which will be too large for people to download.

Now some people, given this situation, would give up. Can I blame them? No. Absolutely not. I myself gave up on the mod for 6 months. But I have decided that it is time for me to start modding games again - it's what I love to do. So, I am starting over.

The new Cross and Crescent: Total War will be better than the old, I can assure you of that. I will start over with the mod, using my own coding skills and the permissions which I have already obtained (as well as a few more) to build a fun-to-play, streamlined mod compilation that will focus on giving the game a new feel and new experience of playing. In addition, I will be a little more focused on historical accuracy this time, although still not to the point of some other mods. I am excited to begin work on this once more and hope that I can make a better mod this time around.
