Probably not. I think it might be possible to make a mod only with seabattles (just change textures etc.) but it aint possible with both
What do you mean by animated? Do you want an animation to play, or do you want to play sea battles like land battles?
The first may be possible: IIRC the Sengoku Jidai team succeeded in adding the S:TW pictures to R:TW messages. However, since their mod is not out yet I am not sure, and you do have to get the animations from somewhere. The second is probably impossible. Back in the early days of R:TW, someone released screenshots of a sea battle mod, but this was never heard of again. Anyway, the engine is simply not suited for this: the battles would play out like chariot/elephant battles on a blue field.
I remember seeing those pictures of the naval battles. IIRC, in order to do it they had to disable land battles...
Do you have a link?
Pray EB 3 run on Empire or better...:2thumbsup:
But when I play naval battle in Empire, I prefer to autocalc it... Need more practice to get rid of "try to flank without thinking" --> get used in land battles (I'm such bad admiral:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:)
I've looked up the old newsthread where they were located, but both links to the modifications pages are down. The only thing I can find is this picture.
Hmmm, Romans and British ships fighting on a sea of grass , looks nice :P
Having said that...
A naval mod with some Ptolemaic 40's would be great ~
I meant if it would be possible to change what they look like.
I'm guessing they just made a normal land unit to look like a ship, it's a novel idea but really just doesn't work with RTW, especially if you have to remove land battles to implement it.
