I was just wondering if the victory conditions of the campaign (e.g. prestige victory, world domination, etc. ) have any influence on the playing style of the AI factions, like being more aggressive on world domination...
Although I guess there won't be any difference, maybe someone has made observations concerning this matter?
I can’t tell any difference. I have no played for world domination yet, and don’t know that I will but the AI seams to behave the same what ever your goals.
There are always penalties for taking other territory by force, and the more you acquire the more upset they will become but trades and treaties are not a part of this.
I can’t tell if the AI has priorities of acquiring provinces or exactly what they seem to be doing.
Sweden and Russia are almost always at war. Denmark and Sweden are almost always at war. Everyone else goes to war with Austria and eventually Briton and France go to war. None ever make peace and major powers are seldom conquered except by the player.
The mods forum would be able to tell you if anything is scripted but to me it seems a bit confused.
I'm assuming they do, but only because in every campaign I've played so far the AI's diplomat's have had a target fixation for trying to acquire specific territories from you.
For example in my American Campaign the British constantly whine about wanting Maine back, whilst the French are obssessed with Upper Louisianna. In the Ottoman Campaign Poland really, really, wanted me to give them Moscow.
I assume that behavoiur is linked to some list of regions they need to control for victory.

The region codes seem quite in depth (I havent touched them yet), so I guess yes.
Well, if Poland is aiming for Moscow, then it has nothing to do with faction victory conditions - Moscow is not a victory condition for Poland.Quote:

I submit, I believe the AI's fixation might be hard-coded historical interest, rather than faction victory conditions.
I don't suppose there is any necessity for the AI's victory objectives for a faction to match the human ones. But there does seem to be an AI fixation with owning certain provinces nonetheless.
well, it could be coded so that 'AI wins as long as the human loses'... not sure if it's true, but just a thought. otherwise the AI behavior does not seem to contain much logic whatsoever.Quote:
