Dealing with anti-Semitism on the internet

sad but true that antisemitism arises almost everywhere.
on Facebook, there is something called the Jewish Internet Defense Force . we go around and report en masse all the hateful/racist pages on facebook. our most recent victory was a "I Hate Israel" page with over 122k people, and the topics discussed were appalling: "how to destroy israel and kill all the jews" and "we have to finish what hitler started" and the like. after about a few thousand people reported it, it was taken off. now we are trying to take off ":daisy: the jews and their Holocaust bull :daisy:".
the fight goes on.

That would be much cooler if you renamed it the Jewish Electronic Defense Initiative. :bounce:

i think its supposed to parallel the real IDF, but JEDI sound coller, ill agree.

It's good to know your hearts in the right place, but in all honestly you'll never be able to shut every anti-semetic page down. There's plenty of other racist hate out there as well, why don't you expand your group to counter racism instead of just anti-semetism?

You heard it here first folks..

we do that too. but we focus on anti-semitism, since FB does a decent job of taking down the racists sites like "i hate black people" and stuff like that, but arent as good as taking down the anti-semitic sites. we also try to take down anti-arab racist sites as well, btw. a bit ago we took down a site called "kill all muslims."

this isnt just some random site. its facebook pages. these groups are in blatant violation of the terms of use.

Nope, I don't take the "JEDI" seriously. My post explains why. I show no amount of seriousness :juggle2:. I guess I got fairly serious on the fact that I DON'T CARE what racism is put on the internet from some guy you don't know and will never meet :inquisitive:

i think you over estimate the sheeple too much. i really do beleive that if these pages are allowed to stay, people will begin to believe the lies.

btw i did not start the JIDF. i just joined it.

and how do you go about telling everyone to stay away? FB has millions of members, and we cant reach all of them.

A competing group offering logical rebuttals to their hate could do the trick.

FB also has numerous groups. Do you have specialised watchdogs looking through every one? Either way, it's fairly futile.
