First custom built PC ^_^
Hi, I shall be either custom building, or ordering a custom config computer.
First up, a few things that I've decided:

Now, I'm looking at a gaming PC, and since I can get the same items cheaper in person, will most likely be putting it together myself, which means lots of shots of our decisions :grin2:
My wants:
Quad core compatible motherboard, for the future. I'm leaning towards the lowest costing i7 cpu (Intel Core i7 920 Processor LGA1366 2.66GHz 8MB Cache CPU) which will cost me $441 AUD.
I can't go get the Core2Quad and have it compatible to upgrade in the future can I?
Multiple hard drives
2 of Seagate SATAII NCQ 1.5TB 7200RPM 32mb Cache for $197 AUD each
However many other I can throw in, but not sure of what RAID format or anything to set it up.
Graphics card, preferably an Nvidea, as I've always had them
Also hopefully DDR3 ram.
Of course, everything outside of the case is open to advice from you guys, so tell me, where should I go?

You should look around other threads here a bit, to make it short for now:
- it will be expensive, but I guess money is no problem?
- the case seems to come with a 500W power supply, if the whole thing will be as expensive as I think, throw it away and get a decent 750W or 1000W power supply
- the best NVidia card is most likely the most expensive one, the card will define the performance of the system as most quad cores will surely not be the bottleneck for a while in gaming, best bang for buck with NVidia is the GTX 260
- the Core i7 mainboards all use DDR3 and you will want either 6 or 12GB of it because it has a triple channel memory controller so you'll want 3 sticks and 3GB is not enough anyway.
- you obviously like porn with so many HDDs
- look for a motherboard you like in terms of whatever, all i7 boards I've seen are so freakishly expensive that they should all work in the important areas. :sweatdrop:
- ask Xiahou about a soundcard

Money is an issue, but I will be buying it over a period of time, I guess. I don't really have a price thats 'too high' or anything.
I'll definately be getting rid of the PSU.

Why that case, though? You are running a lot of equipment which is going to cause a lot of heat... 7200rpm drives, something which easily exceed 100 Termal Watt for a CPU, and you seem to be going for a higher end Nvidia card [not a very 'cool' card either]. In that light, why go for something that has some excusez-le-mot silly side window instead of something that has a side panel with a good & proper fan at 320mm or so? Those typically provide comparable air intake to a 120mm fan, only with much lower rpm; therefore much less noise.
A better case and good cooling equipment should make things more enjoyable during the summer; or alternatively equally horrible but you can skip on the additional cooling equipment. (Unless you are into tinkering with voltage settings, stock coolers should suffice.)

I like the case.
We have a few computers around in our house now that have two fans, and they are running some pretty hot stuff. Not good anymore, but it runs hot. It seems to work.
