Its been almost a year since i played EB again so i installed RTW and patched EB 1.2 just recently.
Is there much difference with 1.1? is the suggested difficulty still M/M?

I think you need to patch RTW to 1.5 in order to play EB
EDIT: ignore me, i misunderstood you...
for starting out, M/M is fine. the optimum is often cited to be VH/M (very hard campaign, medium battles) but everyone has their own preference. Worth glancing an eye over the faction descriptions when you're picking a faction, as the EB have been so good as to note which factions they feel are harder/easier to play as (which also serves as a good indicator as to how quickly one might go into debt.)
Main differences are: New puppet governor system. They are not longer spawned, rather you can recruit them once you build a lvl4 government somewhere. Also, there is the Punic voicemod and some other minor tweaks. Oh well, you can always check the EB1.2 thread for more info in case I missed something.
Oh and please don't tell me you're a philoromaios!

i do remember i once mention that the only true barbaroi in EB are the Romaioi, all other barbaroi are semi/slightlyy civillized in some way or another.
