Rome vs. Carthage in Africa CTD

My army is besieging a Carthaginian settlement. In the Ai turn an army tries to relieve the settlement by attacking me. Every time the game crashes before i can even choose manual or auto resolve. The missing sprites fix solved this problem in my Epeiros campaign, but not in the Roman one. The enemy army is outside of my field of view, so i cant tell you what units it includes.

I am running 1.2 on XP. Any ideas?

You can work around it by lifting the siege, waiting one turn and then lay siege once more.
