character stills

Can someone please remind where the files are which illustrate the various units in a picture form. I ve stumbled across them before but cannot remember where.

You mean the pictures you see when looking at a units information scroll or see in the User Interface?

Those are normally stored in the game's pack files. When you unpack them they are in RTW\Data\UI\Unit_Info\{faction} and RTW\Data\UI\Units\{faction}.
