I myself am an avid fan of eggs, boil them, fry them or maybe even scramble them. I'm concerned by a lot of talk that eggs are in fact bad for you, to what extent is this true?

i doubt that htey are bad for you... look at the olden times. they ate a lot of eggs and see how long they lived. oh, wait.... :wall:
Never heard of any such thing. I'm a big egg eater myself.....I mean why not...they're easy to prepare...there's a large variety of ways to prepare them, and they are absolutely deeeelicious! :beam:
All you need to see is that you cook them properly. Eating raw eggs these days is not advisable, what with all the flu and viruses around....
In fact speaking in general way of health, eggs are supposed to be very very good....they have everything you need to make a simple meal.
Eggs contain everything you need to make a chicken (etc.). As a human is made of pretty similar stuff, they must be good for you. Our ancestors have been eating eggs for many millions of years so we have been honed by evolution to benefit from them. It makes no sense that they could be bad (unless they really are bad and that is not a nice smell in the kitchen) in the light of evolutionary genetics.
Now sugar - that's a different matter. It became such a huge of part of our diet so recently that we haven't had time to begin to adapt our digestive system or metabolism to cope with the destructive onslaught it wreaks on our bodies, resulting in obesity and diabetes.
Look at 'primitive' people around the world who live as our ancestors did on natural diets rich in protein and fat such as fish, eggs and meat. They don't suffer from diabetes, strokes and heart attacks in middle age like civilized people eating artificial food made in chemical factories and refineries.
They put us in a supermarket and let us eat anything we like all our lives. We are like children let loose in a sweet shop gorging on garbage until we puke.
I think we are pre-programmed to eat carbohydrates to excess when they are available, as it happened rarely during our ancestors lives. The occasional fruit tree bearing ripe fruit. The discovery of honey in a bee's nest. A golden opportunity to lay on some extra fat to see us through the lean winter months when meat would be scarce. Most of the year we only ate fat and protein: fish, eggs, meat and shellfish. Neanderthals ate almost nothing but meat. The problem is we now believe that eating sugar and starch is healthy. It's cheap to mass produce and is the only way to feed an overpopulated world. But don't believe it's good for you. That's the biggest lie of them all.
There was talk a couple decades ago about how much cholesterol was in eggs, and that a steady diet of them could lead to heart-trouble later on. IIRC, an Aussie study found that, to produce definite heart problems, a guy would need to eat a dozen eggs a day for 10 years - or some outrageous protocol like that, LOL
Hard-core Vegans still tout the "too much cholesterol" argument. And PETA thinks the industrial production of eggs is cruel to chickens.
I like 'em anyway. In fact, it's time for breakfast, and a Kukri-omelete. :laugh4:
How to cook eggs... put them in a microwave in a glass dish, and do them on the highest settings for a few minutes. Then open the microwave door and...

Eggs are awesome. When I'm at UNI, I have at least 2 per day during the week. They're inherently nutritious- its got to be for the chicken to grow and be healthy.

I guess I can continue my love of eggs. Another thing your all missing out with eggs by the way which isn't nutrition based is the price. Possibly the cheapest versatile food source you can find!
Hell yeah! Damn cheap good quality protein, what with the shocking price of fish and meat these days!
I believe it has more to do with how you prepare them. Fried in butter is less healthy than soft boiled/hard boiled/steamed. I love my eggs and refuse to give them up.

Depends on how your health is already. If you've got high cholesterol or have several factors contributing to an elevated heart disease risk, then you should cut down on egg yolk. Egg white is just fine.

Other than that, simple eggs are amazing as well. Amazing source of protein, easy to eat, they taste good...

I like my eggs done over-easy. I don't care what everyone else likes, you're all below my concern.
Well, the egg white is healthy, but the benefits of the egg yellow are tempered, indeed, by their unhealthy amount of cholesterol. People need to abandon the idea that everything that is "natural" is healthy and especially the idea that such distinction as "natural" and "organic" exists.
It does not matter whether the tomatoes were fertilised with elemental fixed nitrogen or nitrogen found in chicken droppings. Either create hazardous run-off, BTW, as does cow faecal matter, despite its comparably low nutrient content&concentration.
As for me, I always eat and buy organic. My food always contains Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen. Yep, the organic CHON, the four organic elements.
Mine also have amounts of phosphorus and sulfur...
On eggs... I HATE THEM!! Honestly, I can't stand them. When I was a kid I got this wrong idea that eating eggs was like eating little chickens... NowI just don't like the flavor. Which pretty much gives me tons of problems since a very large portion of breakfasts include eggs... So I'm always having sandwiches, cereal, bla bla bla for breakfast.
It means... I hate you. How can you not like eggs?! Screw that organic crap, all that matters is the survival of humanity!
(Which, granted, is best achieved through environmentalist means, but that doesn't mean we have to abandon eggs. It's called reform, man.)
