I have made several attempts to start a campaign with Audei but it appears cash is the problem. and I effectivly have nothing to fight with or over. At minus 5k a turn it doesnt take much to realise you cannot build anything retrain anything or recruit anything. So whats the best stratagy to get some income and expand. The other option is to preload with some serious cash to tide you over for a few years.

I guess there are plenty of threads which include strategies for the Aidouoi. You could do a simple search, even though I believe there are plenty of guys that are going to reply in no-time.

i know not many like to blitz (and i don't like it too...) But when you play Barbaroi (yeah yeah, the real warriors in EB!) you don't have choice because your economy is crapy and, will stay for the BIG majority of the game. (till you go to italia and Grece)
If you like to roleplay, you must blitz Rebels settlement till your income comes back in the green... then you can take all the time you want and kick those Romans and Hellenes asses:whip:
Maions right :D(look in the Guide and AAR forum) but I'll give you a quick overview anyway your troops cost too much money so quickly take some settlements from Eleutheroi or Areveni. at first don't train more troops and only build Econimic buildings(or happy buildings if you can't raise taxes to max in every settlement) that's the trick for the start of most civs, but i'm sure there are some nice Aedui guides out there with a lot more detail.
here's my standard for economic recovery
1) disband any and all fleets (in KH's case take crete first then ship your men, minus garrison back to greece)
2)Target the two closest settlements, size them up and put 2 armies (or 1 if thats all you have) together, and disband extra soldiers.
3) conquer
4) repeat step 3 as necessary.
5) Once your immediate area is safe and if you are still losing money, disband all but 1 main mobile army. (minus garrisons.) tax the shit out of everyone and you should be going positive if step 2 and 3 and possibly 4 were successful.
6) once you have some money, your budget should focus on economic buildings and farms. Once you have stablized your economy conquer all!
I suggest you switch to Averni. They are a bit harder but you have a chance to ally with rome and deal with Adeui much better. Then you will get to tangle with the romans as they pile out of the Valley towards massalia.
Switch to Averni. You will have 2 objectives. Push the Western Aduei to the Atlantic and control Massalia. Massalian hoplites are amazing and you will never regret adding them to your line. As Averni you will have an excellent heavy troop to add to your armies. And they can give you an exciting new tactic that most celtic nations couldnt use so well. As they are hoplites you can use the airborne tactic: FIX EM! FLANK EM! KILL EM!
all manoeuvre warfare works off those 3 principles.

General rule of thumb RE getting the economy to solid footing with most factions:
1) conquer everything within immediate reach
2) MOAR conquest
3) ????
4) profit!

In all seriousness, with most factions it pretty much boils down to that. A rare few can actually try turtling as "one-city wonder" in the beginning by disbanding most of their troops, but in many cases that's unhealthy even in the medium term as it usually doesn't take too long for some neighbour to come calling...
