Offering alliance - generous / demanding?
I noticed a strange difference in diplomacy mechanics (on VH).
I started a new game. If I ask for alliance without attacking any others, the offering of alliance is very generous (and always got accepted). If I attacked a neutral faction once, all of my alliance offers become very demanding (and always got rejected).
Is there any way to mod the game to make the alliance offer more neutral, other than the two extremes now?
Re: Offering alliance - generous / demanding?
Its based on turn number and general relations across the board. Having a good reputation can keep alliances easy to make, but as time progresses, they usually become more difficult to obtain.

Use the Lands to Conquer Campaign AI from Lusted, it's way more realistic than the vanilla one: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=138529

The AI is like that. Everyone will dislike you if you start invading nations. Try attacking you allies for greater effect.
Re: Offering alliance - generous / demanding?
The skill of the diplomat offering the alliance also makes a big difference. A 2-Influence Diplomat might have a Demanding rating when offering a no-strings alliance, while an 8-Influence one would be Generous.

It was generous offer for someone so friendly to become a friend
But after you start to hit up someone, all people that know that start thinking of you as thug
