Another Rabid Lemming DOW
Turn 48 French Campign (Easy Difficulty)
The Inuit Nation (Feeble/Destitute/Friendly) declares war on the French Empire (Terrifying/Spectacular) and its ally Spain (Terrifying/Spectacular) without any warning and with no support. Its only link with the French Empire and therefore its only prossible means of prosecuting a war is via the land bridge to New Foundland. However, there is no sign of any aggressive movement across the land bridge, or any Inuit native warparty waiting to cross.
Offerred them peace immediately which was refused. Will ignore and see if anything actually happens, but I suspect this is just another pointless DOW.

They do that every time I play the French (post patch 1.2) or when I have captured Newfoundland and am bordering them. Putting a ship on the crossing will stop them. In my lat GB campaign they never bothered to DoW me until I removed the ship that was blocking them. They never except a peace offer and usually become extinct very soon.

It seems some nations automatically declare war on you no matter what unless you make them protectorates.
It ALWAYS happened with me when I was Russia or the Ottomans, Georgia and Dageistan would come after me, no matter how many nice presents I gave their leaders and how much good stuff I offered them. Later on, Persia usually got into the game, which, of course, brought up up against the expansionist Marathas...yeah.

The first time I ever played as France (soon after ETW release) the Inuit DOW'd me and immediately attacked Newfoundland with a half stack of mounted troops who stood around for a bit getting shot to bits by my firelockies safe in their houses. Then routed and were never seen again. If only they could have dismounted like dragoons do. Ah well they can't be expected to have access to such sophisticated European drills the poor savages.
I similarly lost one of my first ever ETW battles as the Marathas with an army consisting entirely of cavalry and elephants who could not fight a single unit of Mughal militia scum holed up in a house. :wall:
