4th what?
Have a good one. Hope you have good fireworks and beer.
I suspect our American friends are too busy having parties to post much here.
Have a fabulous Independence Day! :unitedstates:
Actually, I mowed the lawn this morning because it finally stopped raining long enough to do it without leaving muddy tire tracks. Now if only the temperature will rise above 60F maybe we can have our barbeque & fireworks and not have to wear winter coats. At least we shouldn't run out of ice trying to keep the beer cold.:laugh4:
Think of it as a celebration of a successful Guy Fawkes operation.Quote:
4th what?
More like too busy sleeping. It was six in the morning here when IA posted his OP, i was just going to bed. :snore:
:unitedstates: Since the 4th falls on a Saturday my family and I probably won't be doing much of anything until tomorrow. Nothing like sunday cookouts. :2thumbsup:
Everybody was celebrating the 4th yesterday, so we joined in. Boating, drinking, fireworks, etc. Here's some pics of the kids having fun before dark (when the fireworks started):
Happy Independence Day!
Heading off to the lake in about in an hour, this will be my daughters' first Tent Camping Trip :2thumbsup:
Pop goes the 4th! Happy Birthday to our illustrious neighbours.

To put a Total War spin on things, just remember that if William Congreve hadn't invented those darn rocket ships, we wouldn't celebrate this quite the same way ...

Congrats on the anniversary of emerging as one big occupation for everyone on the surface of the earth.
Not sure if you're aware, LEN, but "occupation" could be read in at least three different ways in that sentence ...
I wasn't aware for anything other than which meant to say "a hobby for all". Should I remove ?
No, not at all, I just thought it was funny. Possible meanings for "occupation for everyone on the surface of the earth":
- Everyone on the earth is occupied/employed in watching what the U.S.A. does.
- Everyone is occupied/worried with what we do.
- Everyone on earth is occupied/subservient to our military force.
All valid variations on "occupied."
I was hoping to head out to North Dakota for the celebration. Turns out I need a passport.
have a great 4th of July, my fellow Americans!
i can hear now the fireworks going off, which is nice to listen to. its sad that its illegal to fire them off without a permit here in GA. ah well.
if it wasnt for those drunk kids shooting fireworks up thier rear ends, id be shooting some right now...
Happy Independence Day!
A bit late, but I'm sure there'll be continued celebration tomorrow. Have a great Sunday, perhaps with some more bar-b-qu's, a few beers, and time well spend with friends and family!

Sis came over and I spent the day illegally launching illegal fireworks in an unsafe location.

We just had some sissy sparklers and a fountain thingy.
I just hope everyone keeps in mind that this day is about a lot more than fireworks. This is the anniversary of the day we wooped those pompous Brits!(not really, we only declared independence) :beam:
Good day to all and good night. I gotta get my sleep tomorrow so that I can put in a new shower tomorrow and then rip down the walls and ceilings of my entire upper floor and rock them. Then I gotta re-carpet the upstairs before Sept. :beam:
Nighty-night
Spent most of the day as a glorified security guard for a horse racing track, but at least I got to hear the National Anthem...
Nothing says the 4th of July like a band of bagpipes marching in your local parade. :laugh4:
The rest of the day went by as usual, with burgers, fireworks, and killing Nazis thanks to my cousin's Call of Duty.
(belated) Happy Independence Day ~
Ahhh the 4th of July. A great day it is, to be surely remembered for the years and decades to come. A great day for all humanity when a small but brave group of people fought for their homeland and won against all odds...

Yes! It is the day Greece won the Euro!!! An unforgettable day in history! :laugh4:  :beam:
No fireworks here in Melbourne. The Australians were nice enough to fly about eight American flags in Federation Square on the 4th - a nice gesture and an appreciated one. An American family that has been living in Melbourne (and our building) for a few years hosted a picnic on Sunday and invited us. Good grilled food. Met some visiting Americans and some nice Australians too. Our hosts did manage to get hold of a small pack of sparklers which we burned for our "fireworks" display.
The oddest part was meeting a guy not just from the USA and not just from Pennsylvania and not just from Philadelphia and not just from our hometown, but who grew up in a house we can see from the window of our house (and whose parents still live there). Talk about a small world!!
Ha! Canada Day for me! JULY THE 1ST!!
