ACIN's procreation problem...
In my game I find that 100 years into my save game I have 78 cities but some how all of my generals since the games beginning have found killing more fun then having special time with their ladies and now I have just one old faction leader and a 45 year old faction heir. Every guy I adopt is so horrible they die each and every time I try to send them into consecutive battles. At this point there are no weak rebels just stacks of Sweboz and yellow death coming at me. What should I do?

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
You have more than 75 provinces and just *two* family members?

Yes. They keep producing girls and/or nothing. When I adopt they suck with crappy traits and usually die because I am playing on VH/H.

At some point I have edited every file at least once. Could I have messed something up with the probabilities of having children, boys/girls etc..?

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
I've never heard of anything remotely like that. Either you have introduced some bug, you are the worst general ever, or you are just really really really unlucky. If I kill off a couple of generals in a battle and I have a ton of provinces, I almost always get new ones or fight a battle and get men of the hour like crazy.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
If you get 4 daughters on all your living generals, I don't think you can do anything except do a sex change console command/save hack thing.

Yes, a bug. But not a computer one. More of the likes of a one that infect Homo sapiens sapiens. And not a noticeable on either, but more of the stealthy, insidious nature. So far, the only known symptoms of it are the rare but yet documented dramatic and abrupt elongation of the protuberance of our body which houses the nostrils. Yes, that part.
This grotesque and peculiar effect is observed only in men of certain character, of certain physical disability which is characterised by the replacement of the somatic composition from flesh to cellulose in a process not yet rationalised by the befuddled men of knowledge of these days. How morbidly curious you say, but believe my word, and believe you shall, this affliction is, if we are to heed the statistics, is the most common of all the human maladies.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Go generalless.
With 75 provinces your empire should be awash in gold. So just let your 45 year old be a fat cat, preferably in a city with a fertility temple. Send out the legions with lots of +morale units like prima cohors imperatoria or mercenary generals, naked spearmen or whatever and superior high morale units so they won't route. Hire morale penalty mercs like wargozes and tindanotae. Victorious armies will sometimes spawn men of the hour who you immediately retire and put out to stud in some city doing no military service, just procreating and let the legions win without generals. Sooner or later you should get a decent kid, let him govern a city with a war temple until he becomes hale and hearty then let him go out and crush the world.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Nah, Meth has still got his own hair.
ACIN, just park your family members in a city and let them do their nefarious deeds. Although their children will probably be equally hopeless as your adoptees.

Still do not suspect anything, do you?

I think you are basically just befuddling the befuddler. Screw it, if ACIN is smart enough to mod all his files but yet lacks the diligence to keep his generals out of harms way or at least let them sit around in cities until they get hitpoints, he should just press the reset button and start anew.
Build taverns and temples of the wargod.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Keep them in cities that are safe and fight your wars with client rulers and mercenary generals?

But what if the Family Members can't have anymore children, as their 4 children/adoptees are already dead? If so, ACIN's campaign is pretty screwed.

Or, if the saggy skin had finally finished it's downward migration?

He has a limited time to conquer the map. The lifespan of his remaining FM's, to be exact.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Oh, winning EB isn't about the objectives, it's about the journey man, totally zen and all.

I think I can do that, if I role play that all my generals are now suddenly cowards after facing death 18 times.

You'll have to use that savegame glitch to get your FM's past 120 years of age.

There we go. Solution to my problem. I will just have my faction heir live 3 lives.

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Keep in mind that all children, unmarried women, and recruited generals effect the birth rate. If your number of family members, children, unmarried women, and generals is near to or above the number of settlements you own, the game will stop your family from having children. If you have a bunch of recruited generals or such, kill them off to make room for births.

At this point I made all my border provinces have lvl 4 gov and made a local ruler in each. Does this affect the birth rate?

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
Stop using family members as generals?

Re: ACIN's procreation problem...
What a preposterous idea. No commoner can possibly lead as well as a royal. Why, the only way to keep our bloodline competent would be.... to have them marry their cousins or something.... surely, this would result only in the finest specimens at the end of the bloodline.

@ACIN
May I see a picture of your family tree? I might learn something new.

Can't. I every time I try somehow it ends up being my screen as if I had the game minimized. Otherwise I was going to make my game an AAR. I had a funny title and everything.

Recruited generals restrict that? Hmm. This really opens up a lot of possibilities.

Ok man, cool with me.
Just lead your 2 family members to glory! Father and son, fight together and die together!
What's the faction again? :2thumbsup:
