Strat map symbols

As some may know, i am converting pontus into a roman faction, and i am currently editing their symbols. The menu is fine, and the new symbol appears perfectly in every way it is supposed to, but doesnt make an appearance during the campaign, I have edited the STRATPAGE_02 and SHAREDPAGE_01 in the UI folder in photoshop by "rubbing out" the pontic symbol and copying and pasting mine in, then resizing and finally merging the two layers together, but it hasn't changed anything. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction :3

there's versions of those files in each of the culture sections I think - symbols also appear in a lot of other different files - exactly which one are you trying to change? can you screenshot where it appears?

Right, here is:
-1. Screenshot of the campaign map, displaying where pontic symbols are instead of my "imperial" ones, highlighted by red arrows

Screenshot of the RTW/data/packs/data/UI/roman/interface/SHAREDPAGE_01, showing where the imperial symbol has replaced the pontic one highlighted by a red arrow, I did this by copying and pasting the macedonian one, removing the /\ thing and resizing my eagle thingy to fit into it, I don't know if this is what caused the problem as the tutorial I followed didn't explain how to do any of these parts.
-3. Screenshot of RTW/data/packs/data/UI/roman/interface/STRATPAGE_02, showing the same as above. Again, I used the same technique, whether or not this is a problem I don't know.

OK think you are editing the correct files - but there is an issue with the Roman interface not being read from unpacked version.. see these posts

according to me at end of first thread it did work from mod-folder without re-packing / mod_0.pak
though I could always have been doing something stupid like testing with BI exe...

No, I am editing the vanilla, which may have been a mistake. Thanks for the links, I will check them out after some breakfast lol

I am following the step by step guide from the second link, but nothing seems to happen.

The only thing I can think of is that I have used the wrong xpak, as I am told to use xpak.exe, although the only xpaks i have are "xpak", "samplePak" (ms-dos batch file), "sampleExtract" (ms-dos batch file, and "xpak" (ms-dos batch file). Aargh, I don't know where to go from here, its all too much :help::dizzy2::thumbsdown::wall:


Forget that, I have a new problem :|, I have managed to make the patch_1 pak, containing the new interface, pontus captain card, portrait and dead card, but I don't know where to go from here, as when I copy it into the RTW/data/packs folder it doesn't change anything

I think I am just going to try a mod folder, as they work according to everything I have read, I just have no idea what they are or how they work
