Need help with greek names!

Hello everyone! I come to ask about greek names again! :beam::laugh4::embarassed::sweatdrop:


1.I made two names, are they correct?

• Galatikoi Klerouchikon Hippeis: Galatian Military-Settler Cavalry
• Thraikioi Klerouchikon Hippeis: Thracian Military-Settler Cavalry

2.I saw in EB's website the naked galatian is called "Galatikoi Tindanotae". The "Galatikoi" is greek, but is the "Tindanotae" greek too? if not how it's called in ancient greek??

I bet "Tindanotae" is Celtic.

Your suggestions do sound good. Perhaps

"Hippeis Klerouchikon Galatikon" or "Galatikoi Hippeis Klerouchikon"

would be even a tad better. Mind you, I don't really know ancient Greek, I have only aquired a respectable level of knowledge on plural and genitive. :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4:

Thanks for the balloon, and now that I review it, I think "Galatikoi Hippeis Klerouchikon" would be better than my other suggestion.

hey, quick question. i was wondering what language they're speaking in the game when you fight a battle as the getai? i dont see how they could actually know enough of the original language to do that, so i'm thinking it's greek, since the unit names tend to be in greek

I found the name "Gumnoi" in Polybus' book to describe naked celts! :laugh4::yes::yes::yes:

Literal translation of the unit name in my terrible greek would be Galatikoi Agrios Anthropoi (galatian wild men)

I would use...

Hippeis Klerouchoi Galatikoi
and
Hippeis Klerouchoi Thraikioi.

Simple, elegant and most important... correct.

What happened to him? I haven't seen him post in a great while.

Tindanotae is apparently a Latinzed Celtic term (the -ae ending), one that I cannot track down as to how its been put together or its meaning. I have 5 Gallic language books, and I cannot begin to guess at what that name means. However, the unit name changes for EB2 are vast and I've had to revise some due to nominative plural mistakes, but as of now they are as correct as I can get them :book:
