So I heard Australians like dust?
My car hasn't been this dusty since I moved to sydney last year. It's making me kind of homesick.
Yeah. I'm worried for my pc...near my window...windows open...but blind is down.
I made sure my windows were shut before I left, but there is one window that has an aerial cord running through it and won't shut, but my blinds are down as well so hopefully she'll be right. There was a lot of dust though...
And for those who have no clue what we are talking about, observe what happens when you decide live in the driest continent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQdZFllbNX4
Witness first hand the "she'll be right" attitude.
Biggest dust storm to hit Sydney? What should I do about the computer? Ah, I'll just shut the blinds. She'll be right.
Apart from the fact I'm in Brisbane...900km away...
I was not told this was happening. I had no idea it was coming. First I heard about it was CountArach's facebook, then a tech rang me around lunchtime and told me to look outside. I have no windows.
Was fine at 8 am.
I got up at 5am today, and well I was tripping balls. Wasn't sure if it was the zombie apocalypse or if someone had slipped sunnies on to my face while I slept. Glad it was only dust.
Orange dust storm over NSW, an area the equivalent size of Holland. There's got to be something going on with that. :beam:
This is the worst dust storm I can remember hitting Sydney. I woke up, and being half blind and groggy, noticed that the light was a strange colour. Then after washing my face in the bathroom I noticed that the floor had smears of reddish brown on it. Took me a while to process that it was the dust mixed with stray water.
My car looks even dirtier than usual, we badly need a good downpour to was the dust away. Sadly there isn't any rain forecast for the next week! I guess an awful lot of top soil has departed for good.
Reminds me of Beijing, where I spent all of 4 days, where this happens alot more frequently.
speaking of storms, here in GA we got quite a lot of rain, some parts got rain measured in feets, not inches.
my basement got flooded twice plus we now have a lake in the backyard. its been raining for about 4-5 days?
Fancy that. Here's another vid: http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/utenriks/1.6787519
at best, I might experience mediocre snowstorms during winter.
I can believe it, I remember a few years ago there was a thing where there was dust from the Sahara up here (yes, in Scotland).
Its surprisingly pretty beutiful. :shame:
But must be hell for those of you who live there.
Luckily, my PC was ok. My laptop was a bit dusty though.
And my car was out overnight, covered in dust. It was like washing mud off the windscreen. Guess I got some washing to do this weekend.
There is dust everywhere in my house. On every surface, and the windows were closed. :uhoh:
My car was covered in dust. Didn't change my mind about leaving it unwashed though. Just gave it a nice spray with the windscreen wipers and watched the mud roll down.
Wooh. The only aussie beating me in posts now is Pape.
Apparently we've got another one coming. May not reach Brisbane though.
Wave 2 is here.
Eugh. I can taste it.
This is kind of freaky.
I was talking to may dad who works slightly west and a few hundred k's north of broken hill and he said work stopped for the whole day because you couldn't see more than a metre or two and it was impossible to breathe properly outside.
