If the other party pays you without going to court, it's called a "settlement". If it goes to court and the judge decides (called a "judgment"), the money paid is for "damages".
Is that what you mean?
I thought I was looking for another word but I guess that's it.
Thanks.
If it's the Dutch word you're looking for, then it's "schadevergoeding".
Compensation is the correct term.
Smartengeld maar dan in het Engels Andres.
In Belgium, the Kingdom of simplicity, the money payed as compensation for the damages covered by the Dutch (Netherlands) "smartengeld" is also called "schadevergoeding", or "morele schadevergoeding".
"Compensation" seems correct as well, but I thought that the legal term was "damages".
compensation is what you ask, settlement is what you get.
Ja, bij ons ook, maar ik ben op zoek naar een specifiek woord waarvan ik dacht dat het bestond... blijkbaar niet.
Misschien alleen in mn eigen wereldje.
Restitution?
'there are special lawyers for those cases Personal Injury or Car Accident lawyer???'
Otherswise money in court are "Damages," while those out of court are called a "Settlement."
Nonetheless, Restitution is a monetary payment sometimes ordered to be made as part of a judgment in negligence and/or contracts cases to restore a claim of loss.

Civil case?
Turkish for it.
Edit: Coming from Moussé, obviously it is, my dumbness. It basically is the counterpart of "compensation" and, not being academically educated about law, at least in daily life it is used for "damages" as well. Moussé may come up with the exact legal term for "damages", if any.
Schadensersatz.
