force the composition of roman armies
hi all.
i write this both as a question, provocation, challenge etc. will send it also to EBII
about the composition of the republican roman armies, we all know that both the s.c. census & age were the main schemes to enlist a legion.
a republican legion couldn't have, let's say, 1200 triarii and 600 hastati.
there were cultural, political, and social reasons for that.
this is completely ignored by the RTW engine, as well as with EB.
i find funny that, if i have money and proper barracks i can, for example, enlist limitless cavalry units. or equites extraordinarii.
as far as EB has the aim to represent the ancient watrfare as accurate as possible, i guess that the composition of the roman armies would be important.
so, is there /there will be the chance to inibite the enrolling of too many units of a single particular type? to make the enrolling more close to the social composition of the culture? the only way i found was to make the enrolling more difficult by giving more turns to enlist a unit. but still ...
Re: force the composition of roman armies
Yeah, if I remember correctly EBII will allow for a limited amount of recruitment in a region and a variable regen time for said recruits.
Other than that I'm a bit sketchy on the details....
Re: force the composition of roman armies
I don't think it's possible...the RTW engine suxs and is hardcoded...
Re: force the composition of roman armies
you haven't played M2TW i'm guessing, but your wishes will come true in EB2 as these can be modded, and most likely will be since with that engine you can limited units, per region, plus free UPKEEP WOOOT units.

I'm fairly sure you can mod the EDU to have free-upkeep units in EB1.
Re: force the composition of roman armies
That is a common problem for all factions, as the AI gladly spams you with fullstacks of Leets...
However, in MTW II it cannot, there is a limit to the numbers of each unit, especially the best ones. That this will be included in EB II has been stated in the EB II forum where this discussion really belongs methinks.
Re: force the composition of roman armies
You could script armies like this one... :inquisitive:
Re: force the composition of roman armies
Basicly there is a max of units you can recruit in a region for a while, that means that the AI don't have another choice to resort to principes if it can't recruit Triarii.
That means you have some influence on the AI army composition.
