So do I, there are only a few bands whose songs I can name.
In no particular order, and this changes quite regularly...
When All The Lights Go Out - Anti-Flag - I get chills almost every time I yell this song out. The Press Corpse - Anti-Flag - Pretty much typical Anti-Flag = awesome Dismantle.Repair - Anberlin - Softer than most things I listen to, but still a great band and a great song State of the Union - Rise Against - Fast, hard and unashamedly political. Rise Against at their best. West End Riot - The Living End - This song is simply amazing and everyone should listen to it.
I've seen all of the last 3 live and will never forget them. Truly special moments for me musically... and I will be seeing Rise Against again next January.

Re: Your top 5 favorite songs
Of all time is too difficult... sooo many great albums. :sweatdrop:
As of late though, in the past three or four weeks, I've rediscovered the following in my collection (in no order by the way):
Sigur Ros - Glosoli (from Takk...) My Bloody Valentine - Blown a Wish (from Loveless) The Jesus and Mary Chain - About You (from Darklands) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Dudley (from Show Your Bones) Sonic Youth - Sweet Shine (from Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star)
NB: I'd only discovered Sigur Ros about two weeks back. Individual tracks don't stand out incredibly well, rather entire albums simply blow me away. <3 their sound. :2thumbsup:

Re: Your top 5 favorite songs
number 1 Fever, Peggy Lee
number 2 While my guitar gently wheeps
number 3 Laaaaaaaaaaylaaaa
Way too many choices and variety to name 5 top songs, music depends on styles, moods, and periods of life. So here are 5 random songs that rock, at least in my mind:
Stranglehold - old school Nugent live Stigmata - Ministry. The live version from In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up was even better, they used 2 actual drummers instead of machines. Used to be on YouTube, but I guess it got taken down. Ticks and Leeches - Tool. Wonder how many calories Carey burns when he bashes the skins on this one. Christbait Rising - Godflesh. When grunge killed metal in 1990, luckily I had this to switch to. Hey Man Nice Shot - Filter
Google-fu came up with this translation of the lyrics:
No there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Not the bad or the good I've been done
I don't care - it's all one
No there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
It's all paid, all forgot, swept away
I move on day by day.
All my souvenirs serve
Just to kindle a flame
The delights and the hurts
I won't need them again
My old lovers, their lust
All their trembling is gone
Swept away like the dust
I return to square one
No there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Not the bad or the good I've been done
I don't care - it's all one
No there's nothing at all
No, I have no regrets
Because my life, and my joys
Spring anew
And it all starts with you.
Please don't leave me
We must forget.
Anything can be forgotten,
Which is already fleeing.
To forget the times
Of our misunderstandings,
And the time we lost,
Trying to know how
To forget all all those hours,
Which sometimes have killed
Why damaging and pounding ''why's''
The heart of our loving bliss
Please don't leave me (4 times)
I shall offer you
Many pearls of rain,
That came from countries,
where rain never falls.
I will dig the ground
Until long after my death,
To cover your body
With gold and light.
I will build a kingdom,
Where love will be king
Where love will rule.
Where you shall be queen.
Please don't leave me (4 times)
Please don't leave me,
I will invent for you
Words without sense,
Whose meaning you will grasp.
I will speak to you
Of these two lovers,
Who have seen twice, their hearts
burst with love's fire.
I will tell you
The tale of a king,
Who died from never
being able to meet you.
Please don't leave me. (4 times)
We have seen on many occasions
Erupt with a new life, the fire
Of an ancient volcano,
That was believed too old.
Apparently, there are
Some burnt lands
Giving more wheat,
Than a best April.
And when comes the evening,
For a sky to dance like a flame,
The red and the black
Shall never become the same.
Please don't leave me (4 times)
Please don't leave me.
I will never cry anymore.
I will never say anything.
I will just hide near you.
To look at you,
Dance and smile.
And to listen to you
sing and laugh.
Let me become
Your shadow's shadow.
The shadow of your hand.
The shadow of your dog... (L'ombre de ton chien)
At home I have a postcard
on it are a church, a cart and a horse
A butcher 'J. van der Ven'
A bar, a lady on a bike
It probably doesn't mean anything to you
But it's where I was born
This village, I remember how it was
The farmer's children in the classroom
A cart that rattles on the old roads
The city hall with a waterpump in front of it
A Sand road through the corn field
The livestock farms
Chorus:
And along the garden path of my father
I saw the high trees
I was a child and knew no better
That it would never pass
They lived very simple lives
In simple houses with much vegetation
With wild flowers and a hedge
But apparently they lived wrong
The village has been modernised
And now they are on the right track
For see how rich life is
They see the television quiz
And live in concrete boxes
With large windows, so you can see
How the couch looks at 'Mien'
And her sideboard with plastic roses
Chorus
The village youth cluster together
In miniskirt and Beatle hair
And howls along with beat-music
I know it is their good right
The new time, just what you say
But it makes me melancholic
I knew their fathers
They bought a liquorice for one cent
I saw their mothers jump rope
That village then, it's over
This is what remained for me
A postcard and reminders
And along the garden path of my father
I saw the high trees
I was a child, how could I know
That that would go well beyond
Tonight, I want to get lost in the streets,
The sounds of the city bring my soul in the mood for love
Allthough I don't have money to pay for pleasure,
I'm sure I'll find a generous lady
Under the moonshine
The whole world becomes a nightly bed
Come with me to the bars filled with women and sailors
Forget your name and all the rest,
Tonight, I want to get lost in the streets,
The sounds of the city bring my soul in the mood for love
Allthough I don't have money to pay for pleasure,
I'll sure find a lady to my taste
Tonight, I want to get lost in the streets,
The sounds of the city bring my soul in the mood for love
Allthough I don't have money to pay for pleasure,
I'm sure I'll find a generous lady
Let us consume the world together,
With sounding glasses full of French wine
Let us all sing together, the people love it,
And let this night never end
Tonight, I want to get lost in the streets,
The sounds of the city bring my soul in the mood for love
Allthough I don't have money to pay for pleasure,
I'll sure find a lady to my taste

Re: Your top 5 favorite songs
well, most of them are folk songs or heavy metal.
if I had to make a top five, its these (no real order):
All quiet along the potomac (union song)
Spieluhr (rammstein)
cigarettes (lucky boys confusion)
cumberland gap (confederate song)
Richmond is a hard road (probably the most sarcastic song ever written-confederates)
but honestly, I like these too, among others:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-camptown races:clown: (no, I'm no hick)
-weeping sad and lonely
-my old kentucky home (by Stephen Foster)
-hey driver (lucky boys confusion)
-gentle Annie (Sephen Foster)
-Tramp, tramp, tramp
-tenting tonight (I seem to have interest in civil war era songs)
-coming to us dead
-die, die, my darling (metallica cover of the misfits' song)
-klavier (rammstein)
-Amerika (ditto)
-Hell on the wabash (well, only the music-I do not know the song)
-army bean (I wish I were making this one up)
otherwise, I don't really care for music-I have only listened to music for 1 year.
