You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091005/.../us_usa_status
I thought we we're a broken company bent on collapsing inwards on ourselves due to years of bad decisons and decadance.
Still the most admired
And Since Texas is the most admired of the states I guess that means....Texas=Gods country?

Ranking for 2009
1. United States
2. France
3. Germany
4. United Kingdom
5. Japan
6. Italy
7. Canada
8. Switzerland
9. Australia
10. Spain
This means that Texas and France rule the world.
Strike and I have won the internets, and succeeded in making everybody believe all that stuff we wrote.

Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
Third?!? I guess we do apparently have a little bit more to offer.
-
Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
Lies, lies. No-one likes the French, especially in the US. :laugh4:
Well, dunno about the world, but the Americans do tend to hate the French with passion. So many people complained about one exact same thing - that the French are snobbish and elitist. Now, I will disagree, as I do not trust the judgement of most of those Americas, but that is another discussion...
In any case, just wait and see what happens when Obama's feverish spending makes California out of US (a disaster fo that proportion is unlikely to happen, but the US will have to cut back). US budget will be forced to undergo a gastric bypass and America will no longer have money to spend on internal needs, much less throw the dough at the world. Then people will start grumbling...
And just about the time the budget goes lethargic, Obama's term will strategically end and his hapless white successor will shoulder all the blame, without a colour of skin to shield him. That is when things will get tough for US :sweatdrop:...

Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
When are we going to get the politiconomic blocs?
A SRS BSNS EU, an expansionalist Russian Federation, a Confederacy of North America (or something similar), etc.
I want to live in a sci-fi world.

Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
Well, the poll ran lots of development countries. Given they don't have proper education, one might guess they just answer whatever country they see as the richest.
Would be interesting to see a poll of the most disliked country in the world, I am kind of sure USA would top that list, too.
I guess we can compare the USA to Britney Spears. I wouldn't mind having her life style, with limousines, big estates and stuff... But do I like her? Hell no.
So yeah, USA is to other countries what Britney Spears is to other people. Good job!
-
Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
I disagree, Kadagar, Britney Spears is *meh*. I wonder what people will say when they don't have an America to blame all the ills on the world. It was like back when Clinton had the Lewinsky affair, he couldn't catch a break if he wanted to, and then Bush came into power, and Americans lamented their loss of Clinton. The world will lament it's loss of America, when (or if) China or some other non-democracy takes it's place.

Um, Strike, the US was 7th last year under that Texan president - what's his name? Ah Bush. Bush did make the US the "Oh God!" country..."oh God!" being what everyone said whenever he opened his mouth or did anything. :clown:

But China would be soo much funnier...
The ideal of course would be noone takes that place and we all just work together, in reality we all know the EU is most likely to take that place though, and that will be comparable to replacing Bush with Obama. :smash:

Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
I wonder who they asked... im sure china and india would be first if they would ask all the indians and chinese :P

Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, Costa de la Luz etc... vs California and Florida???
United Kingdom ahead of Italy - Riviera Ligure vs Brighton?
I refuse to recognize the results of the survey as legitimate. :laugh4:

For the record, Bush Jr. is from an elite New England family, and was himself born in Connecticut. Which makes him more of a carpetbagger than a Texan.

Good point. I am certain it is. I suppose America is like Vegemite: love it or hate it :laugh4:! Well, yes, it is difficult to be ambivalent towards the worlds largest power, economically, culturally, and politically in general. Unlike Tajikistan or Burundi, few people go "meh" or "WTH is that country??".

I wouldn't want to live with Britney Spears, but I would want to live in America. Bad analogy, though it may work for you.

Yeah, but Texas elected that carpetbagger as their governor, so that should make him a True Texan regardless of where he was born. :cowboy: Yeeeehaaaa!

No, remember I'd be leaving the EUSSR to do it.

Re: You Love Me, You Really Love Me!!!!
Thank you Obama.
That's kind of why all the far-righteous american nutjobs who claim the US are now seen as a joke internationally make me laugh. These people are so out of touch with reality it's crazy.
And yes, the fact an afro-american has been elected at the head of the current sole superpower, a country with a strong history of racism and discrimination, is a great achievement worthy of much respect.
