Don't you just love stupid AI/Pathfinding?
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love E:TW, even though the Warpath Campaign was pretty bleh (not worth the price of 10 dollars for something a modder can do themselves). However, upon installing Warpath, really strange things have been happening in siege battles (both on 1vs1 battles and in the Grand Campaign).
1. Defending infantry units now avoid walls and stairs as if the stone or wood carried the plague. When ordering units to move onto a wall, only SOME of the troops in the unit will move onto the wall. The other portion will run in place (yes, you heard me correctly, they RUN IN PLACE), clip through the walls and get stuck, or decide opening the front gates 50 yards away is a much better solution to getting up the walls than moving up the stairs that are right in front of them.
2. Moving units in/around broken walls is like betting everything on 00 in roulette. Ain't gonna work. Units will get stuck, and you will unable to attack them because they wont recognize that they are there most of the time. In fact, if they DO attack, chances are YOUR troops will get stuck as well. I'm looking at my monitor right now, and two of my Maratha boys are staring down a bunch of "routing" British pikemen. They must be having a grand ol' chat with a spot of tea. Nothing I do can get these two guys unstuck, and nothing I can do (short of wasting what little ammo I have left) can get rid of my enemy.

3. In that same battle, after the walls fell, the British cannons started firing canister shot. I have NO idea what they are firing at, since nothing is in range, but they haven't stopped firing in the past 15 minutes.

However, this is one of those times when game-breaking bugs are beneficial. All I need to do is just wait until the time limit expires, and I get to kick the British out of my home. They aren't even using their untouched cavalry and line infantry reserves to push through my battered troops.
Please note that I'm playing ETW, with Warpath and all available DLC installed, but no mods. I've NEVER had this problem before Warpath.
EDIT: Gotta love this one. I found a unit of mine is stuck on the walls on the opposite end of the fort from the artillery. This was where they bravely fought off the British infantry. But 15 minutes in, my unit is still fighting, despite the Brits having turned tail and ran a long time ago. My question is, who are they fighting? Ghosts?

Gah. So much for Mike Simpson's claim that they'd worked through the AI issues with 1.5.... :wall:
Incidentally, welcome back Kek! Good to see you again.

You can get ETW to run in a window?!?

Re: Don't you just love stupid AI/Pathfinding?
In fairness, Warpath didn’t do this. 1.5 did it. It was doing it before I ever loaded Warpath, which is there anyway as part of 1.5.
I got this kind of thing prior to my buying Warpath along with seeing the borders of Warpath Regions in the GC.
Much of this patch seems to have taken a step backwards rather than getting better.
Re: Don't you just love stupid AI/Pathfinding?
I've seen this as well, and I still see the warparth campaign menu even though its 1.5! what gives! I thought they said they were removing it with the 1.5 patch?
Re: Don't you just love stupid AI/Pathfinding?
It's still there anyway.
