Unless Mrs Bruni has a thing for ugly Europeans, which may well be the case considering her current partner, I doubt this is true.

It's a shame really seeming she deserves a real man, one who can stand above 5ft 6, doesn't wear stacks to appear taller or surround himself with small people to emphasise his less than average height and a man who doesn't airbrush away his spare tire on official holiday snaps.

And no, I'm not going purely of aesthetic appearances seeming quite frankly her husbands personality is fairly vile to. In general the women deserves something better than European politicians dribbling all over her..

You are forgetting something very important. Why does she put up with such an awful person?

Basically, she is as awful herself. She did it for attention, money and all shallow corrupt things, she is no angel.

There are twosides to every story and don't give women the benefit of the doubt and presumed angels, it really is not the case.

I say Nicoculas Sarcocuzy ought to demand satisfaction. This does not portray virility on his part. He's out of office unless he can prove himself worthy. If you can't rule the desires of your women, you can't rule a country.

It has been too long ago since the once great Flemish cities of Lille and Bruxelles have been brought under civilization. Time for us to add another one to our treasure, like pearls on a necklace.

It's a tough call for me. I love French fries and the fact that Belgium has a stand in every town is a giant plus

BUT Louis is in France and I don't think me an my Texans could do the whole four horsemen thing knowing hes tucked away and we may accidently hurt him

BUT Andres is in Belgium and he seems like a pretty good guy to.

I think I'll just stay put.

Quite right. I've always been saying France is warmongering nation, always trying to bully those peaceful, honest, hard-working Germans.

My money is on France. After Belgians conquer Paris, Americans, Brits and Russian will come and liberate France and conquer Belgium :laugh4:

This whole history rewriting about France being a lame and surrendering nation is quite weird to be honest. France has been one of the most agressive European country (if not the most agressive country), and kicked everyone's ass at some point, even after Napoléon.
Did it exist before Dubya and his perfectly thought-out invasion of Irak? I'm honestly asking. I've neither heard it nor read it before France refused to follow Bush, while it appears to be an established fact nowadays.

As for the event itself, we have a case of
a - some guy trying to look cool and making himself look like a fool
b - Carla Bruni making fun of some guy, or God forgives us, hitting on him for real.

Both options are fairly plausible. I mean, after trying pop music singers and actors, she might be in a ugly-politicians mood.

Considering her choice is between a man who wields nuclear power, and an ugly Walloon nobody, I'd say option A.

Not that this means we give up on our right to satisfaction: I say we give Nord-Pas-de-Calais to Belgium. That will in one stroke irritate and bankrupt the Flemings even more and improve both Wallonia and France.

The cheese-eating surrender monkeys bit has been around for a while now, it's not a new Bush43 thing. Not sure when it started, maybe it's an offshoot from Vietnam. Just remember that we Americans aren't very good at history and generally aren't aware of the price France paid for WWI.

Don’t bother. France has just to blow on the Dutch embers still smoking and Belgium doesn’t exist any more….

In case of war, if nobody makes the mistake to actually attack the US they will happily trade with both countries as they did before…

Well, I had a beautiful, dense, wavy brown hair covering my scalp and now I brush my hair with a towel. What can I say, things change. Until you have another war with the Germans, kick their butt and regain your honour, you'll always be a "surrendering" nation in the eyes of the world.

There was a mini-series called Sleepers, where we get to see national stereotypes. Except that this has modern-day Britain as one of the stereotyped nations, as portrayed in a British comedy. There are 3 secret agencies competing to get hold of some Russian agents. The CIA are brash and work in luxurious conditions and have access to unlimited resources. The Soviets have rather lower budgets, but are able to make do and are professional and confident. The British have next to no budget and have to account for a packet of biscuits and a (plastic) cup of tea.

France lost her honour in the Racist Petainist Laws, in the Collaboration, in Vichy government…
France kept her honour (for WW2) in 1940 when 90,000 courageous men who lost their lives in a absolute impossible fight, regained it in the hundred shots by death squads, in the hundred who protected the Jews, in the hundred who blow-up Germans trains and died in doing it…
WW1 is a French/UK victory and the heroism of the French Soldiers is not deniable. Why and how is the question to every person who put a foot in October or November in Mourmelon Training Camp…

It's arguable whether this country or that lost their honour in that war. However, it's undeniable that France lost bragging rights, which is the most important aspect of the Anglo-French rivalry. You won the right to brag when you conquered us in 1066, then there were some tos and fros in the Hundred Years war, until you expelled us from the continent. Then we slowly regained the right to shout over the French as we won the race to subjugate the most Johnny Foreigners. Then you got beat by the Germans and we...well, we did too, but we could sort of argue that we didn't. You need to find another war somewhere where we can compete again. Perhaps the Scots could declare independence, you could supply them with arms and money, and we could beat them down again like in the old days.
