Autoinmunity: Democracy

Hello people. I've been away for a one and a half month. And yes, I want to write once more. I'm glad that a former drug addict, Diego Armando Maradona, with the superb phrase "Keep it *******", after winning the match against Uruguay and qualifying us to the World Cup next year.

But that is not what it affects me. Any argentinian or wanna-be argentinian knows what happened with him and his life, so he is half-pardoned.

What it does annoy me, it is that, like I called this thread, the autoinmunity against democracy. It seems that the biggest threat to democracy is... democracy itself. The attempts to burn the past are so desperate that we return to the past... to do what the loser band wanted to do. So far, things are ugly everywhere. Corruption at it biggest exponent. Inflation at unknown rate. Medication under suspiction. Drug use and abuse start to be more evident in young people. Kraft Foods bought one Argentinian enterprise, since then, this multinational what has done is to laugh at the laws that apply in our country.

The biggest threat is called "Law of Audiovisual Services". Wrote by the President and George Orwell, this law is aimed to attack the most important economical group called "Grupo Clarín.". This group has been a friend of the last government, but when things go wrong, the government and Clarin started a war. The war has begun. And the casualies are in the part of Freedom of Speech.

The government says that this law is "The law that gives the word to you.". I have never been insulted like that before. This law is insulting the Constitution. The article 14 says that every person MUST be able to cast an opinion withoit previous censorship. This law crates a monster called "Autority of Application" and basically is controled by the government. You don't say what they like? It's a "Strong Fault" and they can get your licence revoked. Even if you have a license for 20 years. They don't give a damn anymore.

The law brings down the posibility of broadcasting in multiple sites at the same time. This restriction is aplicable at private radios, yet it is not applicable at Statal radios. Statal radios can make difusion of artists under a contract with a discography, yet Private radios have to broadcast independent artists. Private radios can broadcast with publicity, but only in a 30% of the total programmation, yet Statal radios can in a 100%. Radios that broadcast in the Province of Buenos Aires (Province with the most ammount of people) can't broadcast in other provinces and viceversa. Private radios have to pay a 20% of taxes on the ammount of money they get on publicity... and that tax is sent to the Statal radios.

Like the Barbarian says: Slay them all. I would like to see some heads hanged in the Congress, and the problem will be solved.

I think you are true there. DEMO KRAT - cy is a both a blessing and a curse. Most people, most of the time, will decide things based on both their own self-interests, AND their idea of fair-play to their fellow deciders/citizens/voters. BUT.

Sometimes they won't. Or sometimes someone has messed with the vote results. You gotta check for the "mess", then accept the will of "they". Until the next election, when you can (with hope) persuade the voters/citizens to your idea.

The "TRICK" is in having a system where you and they can vote, and nobody dies, as a result of their vote.

Democracy is self defeating, I want to live in a place where all of my opinions on matters that I don't quite understand myself are fully enforced, and people have to live by them, if they don't like it, they can leave. I call this place my mind, and I'm still living under a tyranny.

Talking about elections, I casted my vote in the mid-term Parlamentary Elections. I voted for the Radical Party, which I think they have interesting people among their lines, even in my Province. I voted the Radicals, and they did very well, everywhere.

The thing is that they won't assume until December 10th, and that is hell of a time. So far they are using the majority in both Chambers (I don't think if that is the right word, blame Harry Potter) to approve all the laws they want to. So far the Government is a bullying machine, just too big and stupid. Like the KGB or the Stasi, but stupid.

We are heading to the Bicentenary, yet we have learn nothing. Way to go, I have to start myself in politics to change the course of the country.
