You read right. Zombie. *******. Jesus.

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
i should have made a poll. crap.

What would you be more offended by walking down the street on halloween?
Michael Jackson Zombie

Both are horribly distasteful
Both are totally acceptable; it's just halloween

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
It's an old pagan festival, just a bit of fun really. I mean, I don't think we're supposed to believe our dead relatives are going to rise up after midnight, are we?

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
How do you make it look like a zombie jesus and not just a hippy zombie? Are you going to carry around a cross all night?
-
Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
Perhaps try a zombie Mohammed, and send photos to a Danish newspaper? Or could that cause trouble?

probably some robes, maybe a halo or something
carrying around a cross though would be a little far. besides, if he was a zombie he was already taken down from the cross, duh.:laugh4:

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
This is a more Backroomish topic.
I think you already knew the answer to your question before you asked. Since it doesn't offend you, your only question is do you want to offend anyone or maybe, do you care if you offend anyone? You might not get any treats at some houses if they realize what you are supposed to be.

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
A Jewish person dressed as zombie Jesus parades around the suburbs of the mid-west US... you just know it's going to end well.
-
Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
I'd dress as zombie Michael Jackson. Then find a balcony and dangle baby Jesus over it.

A zombie baby Jesus?

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
Would suggesting a Nazi baby Jesus be going too far?

I'm inclined to agree.

Anything religious or political is bound to piss off somebody somewhere.

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
Many holidays we mark on our calenders have roots in pagan or other religious purposes. Their meanings have changed over the centuries so that the modern day reasons for celebrating have nearly nothing to do with the original purposes behind them. Christmas is a wonderful example. I don't worry about getting caught up in the specifics. Candy is on sale this time of year, that's all I care about.
As for the topic of whether Zombie Jesus would offend me: No*. But it would be in extremely poor taste, and whoever would do it would most likely be doing so for the sole purpose of offending someone. If there's any problem i'd have with it, it would be that the person in question is making a deliberate attempt at being an :daisy:.
Zombie Sean Connery on the other hand would freak me right the heck out.
-
Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
I agree with Monk. Why deliberately look for trouble?
-
Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
so zombie michael jackson then?
-
Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
Well think about it, little kids are encouraged to dress up like vampires, essentially mass murderers. Zombie Jesus is the pinnacle of all that is holy, good, and dead. Where in the bible does it condemn zombies? If halloween cannot be tied to paganism, then zombies cannot be to heretical voodooism.

Re: would you find this offensive walking down your street on halloween?
If you aren't actually breaking the law with nudity then who cares if your costume is in poor taste. 90% of all Halloween costumes are in poor taste, it's a holiday about cheap thrills and dumb fun. Relax and wear what makes you laugh.
Personally I find zombie Jesus absolutely hilarious, but I also laughed at an abortion doctor costume I saw that was really over the top gross (Turns out it wasn't supposed to be funny, it was a nut job 'protesting').

It'd be hilarious. I thought America was the home of the free?
Perhaps you should go as zombie Muhammed. Nobody'd mind.
EDIT: 2,700th post!
EDIT2: Gah, John beat me to it ;-;
EDIT3: On second thought, dress up like Zombie Buddha. Namu myoho renge kyo! Eat brains to restore your good karma! Break free from the chain of samsara, etc, etc, etc.
