Check your sources.
Also, gigantism is linked to a problem in the pituitary gland, not genetics or other factors. In any case, a few skeletons does not equal a trend.
Well yeah, I can understand gigantism being a disease causing freakish growth, but our tallest have been 8'11" Robert Wadlow. The tallest skeletons have been between 9-16 feet.
I'm not passing this as fact because frankly, I've never seen a giant skeleton, but it is interesting to me.
And you never will cause they were all fakes.
On a related note, the average boob size has gone up from a 34B to a 36C.
Rejoice!! :smash::smash::smash:
Probably because of obesity.
Some real giants:

Haha I recognize Andre the Giant but who's the other one?
I've seen similar sites before, and I thought they must be made up.
So are people now saying these are genuine, there were actually giant humans around in the past?
Of course, you think Goliat was made up? :inquisitive:
I thought maybe he had a disease or something (gigantus, or whatever you call it)...
But apparently these skeletons don't have the other characteristics of that (unusually big chin etc)...
The theory about Goliath is that he had acromegaly, like Andre the giant and the Big Show did.
Am I the only one to see a pattern in how many giant skeletons has been found, and how science has developed?
:book:
Big bones indicate a moment of prosperity, the better the times the bigger the bones. These changes can occur very fast the people in late medieval times were considerably bigger than they were in early medieval times.
Reports of finding giant remains go back quite a way in history.
Quite a few from the 1800s seem very believable and report sending the remains to museums and so on.
Now what may have happened to them later is just speculation but I have never seen any.
But in their defense quite a few prominent names are associated with these finds and they are still remembered honorably for other finds.
Pictures with a comparative normal skeleton please? It seems to be oddly silent around these skeletons nowadays, compared to Homo Floresiensis for example.
Nope, they seems to be mostly from 1830-1930 with a major peak 1850-1900. Or around the period where archeology started to get big and before they could properly judge how to put the bones together.
Sounds like all Tall Tales to me.
I believe that many of the bodies decayed (they were oginally partially mummified), and I would not know where to find photographs. HOWEVER, the finds at Mycenae in Grave Circle A and Circle B are extant and well documented.

Strangely, nothing here about the size of the skeletons.
They're oddly silent about it if they were giants, don't you think? And that Grave Circle B got the skeletons around 1.58-1.61 m (females) and 1.61-1.76 m (males), makes the silence even weirder if they found larger skeletons. Linky
That they were notably taller compared to the commoners is another issue.
They have also been found in Iraq, and some extra-ordinary large females have been found in England. Definately not fake.
Yes, but I'm not sure San and Tray help the hypothesis. :beam:
