Breaking News: Pompeii on Google Street View
Yes, the moment finally came - Google added the 1/3 (I believe that is the most commonly cited figure) of what is estimated to have been excavated of the Ancient Roman town of Pompeii. The first news of this reached the Internet on the 3rd of December, and articles are still popping up everywhere, so this is fairly fresh.
Not only is this splendid because of the ease with which one can access the ancient ruins with one's own eyes, but also because many (as much as more than half - once again, correct me if I am wrong) of the excavated buildings and streets are not open to public.

They not only decay it quite a lot, tourists also often have a tendency to nick pieces of masonry, mosaics, etc. as souvenirs, in 150 years Pompei could be much changed if even every fifth guests nick just a small piece.
