Reminder: Forum rules in social group and personal pages
Just as a reminder to everybody - forum rules also apply in social groups and personal pages (see this thread from earlier in the year)
While staff obviously will not systematically moderate this content, we reserve the right to react to any forum rule violations as we would do in a moderated forum.
Thanks

This is pretty silly. The social pages are good for when you just want to have a chat with someone, ad not have to resort to the OTT secrecy of PM's. And having the social group(s) separates this "content" from the rest of the forum.

Or you can just follow the simple rules when posting a VM. It's not that hard, just don't swear, post inapropriate content or talk about piracy. I think there are many conversations which don't have to involve one of the above.

Yes, that is exactly what the social groups are for.
Of course, the occasional spam or nonsensical post will be tolerated in the social groups, as it are friendly environments where .Org members get to know each other and can fool around a bit.
However, certain standards need to be respected at all times: no porn, no links to pirated software, no disgusting pictures (e.g. mutilated bodies), no racism, no harassement, no bullying, no bad language etc. etc. In fact, there's no need to make a list of what is allowed and what not; I think it's pretty obvious what is meant.
Chatting and having fun in social groups is good, but do it civilised, with mutual respect, some rules of common sense and always keep in mind that the .Org is a friendly environment.
It's nothing new really, just a reminder of what has been said in the thread Ser linked to.

Yes, and that does happen in the vast majority of VM's.
And I guess if we want to talk about TPB, we can always use PMs, lol.

Which is exactly what happens.

None of these ever happen, in the specific example I am thinking of.

Admittedly, that does happen, but it;s never excessive.

Which is exactly what "we" want as well. It's just "our" version of fun is slightly more chaotic than what the rest of the Org has in mind. Which isn;t a bad thing, but it keeps interesting people here, as they can post sensible comments on the main Org, and then act a bit more anarchic in this certain group.

Then you have nothing to worry about ~;)

Well, staff won't patrol 24/7 in social groups and on profile pages, so if you have something like that on your public profile, then you could edit it out yourself right now, before a bored staff member takes a look ~;)

As long as "your" idea of fun doesn't violate what has been described, then there's no problem. If, however, "your" idea of fun is not compatible with the expected standards, then sanctions may follow

The posting of pornographic content in a VM triggered the reminder here. Unfortunately this is not an isolated case. Discussions about piracy, racist remarks etc. seem to have become more common again
Don't expect us to go around demanding edits every time somebody used a bit of colorful language. Nobody has a problem with a bit of spam or anarchy in certain places at the org - however, things like the above mentioned are clear violations of our forum rules which you accepted when you joined here.
I do not think it is asked too much, to respect certain ground rules.

I'm sure a compromise between th two can be found. "We" never get up to anything excessive anyway.

AFAIK that was not because of "us".

This isn't a democracy where comprises have to be made. It's a "if you don't like it, leave" kind of situation.
And who is this "us" you talk about?

Re: Reminder: Forum rules in social group and personal pages
Not sure, but I think you should temporary ban them just incase.
As for Asai Nagamasa's comment, the Wig party policy governs the ORG.

Re: Reminder: Forum rules in social group and personal pages
I am taking a wild guess, but is his "us" the EB Tavern?
They seem to be the local .org fratboys...

Yes. I figured that this was directed at us, but I didn't want to allude to that.

Thereby defeating the whole purpose of the Social Groups? :inquisitive:

I'd like to remind everyone that this was not some kind of mass action by us, and was an isolated event (Except that time that that guy with 10 posts posted something similar in the Tavern; which we dealt with)

I don't think you understand.Social groups were never meant to be places where the Org atmosphere and rules did not apply. They were an extra feature given to the members to socialize more in a respectful way, now some abuse it.
Anyway, further discussion seems useles. The OP is quite clear.

As I've grown so tired of telling people; the bloodsucking reptilian shapeshifters are the real rulers of the .org.

Nevertheless, the rules also apply to the EB Tavern members.
If a EB Tavern member posts pornography, discusses piracy, makes racist remarks etc. and we see it, we deal with it.
If anybody else posts pornography, discusses piracy, makes racist remarks etc. and we see it, we deal with it.
Simple as that.
If you feel that this justifies any "we" or "us" I guess you have "your" reasons to do so.

I see where you're coming from, but I the resent EB Tavern being singled out, as I thought it originally was.
