Need suggestions for my battle story

I am playing TW like ten years, and its time to start writing the first battle story of my own. We can choose my strategy together, and bring fresh blood to the forum.

I want to know,
* Which mod is the most challenging?
* Which faction's story you want to hear?


Here is the rules i am gonna follow.

* VH/VH difficulty.
* 10 years of headstart to the computer.
* No sieging, always assault no matter what.
* No Extermination, always conquer the full population.
* No mercenaries.
* No getting advantage from bugs and unrealistic strategies.

For challenge, you may want to try The Long Road mod which makes development and conquer real slow compared to Vanilla.

As for factions, it all depends on how you want ot write it and from which point of view...

Sadly, Long Road mod is not avaiable on their official site. So i downloaded Stainless Steel instead.

I just want to put the map and battle screenshots and tell the story turn by turn.
I am still open for any faction suggestions. I like to be steppe factions, but many people choose them for HA superiority. If i find good steppe raiders like Mongols or Cumans, i think i will go with them.

Ok guys, although i like Mongolian-like factions and i deeply interested in Cumans, i decided to play with Lithuania instead. Because if i play with them, their horse archer units can make my life so easy.

But Lithuanians in SS Mod are awesome: They have the pagan units i like to play with since Rome TW, and being pagan would be hell of a challenge.

Too bad i dont have much time to play, but i will keep you posted as long as i have time to play.

I agree, they have an interesting flavour in their mix. I particularly like a few of their axe wielding units.

Also, from my experience in playing my Teutonic Order campaign with SS6.2 (rc/rr etc etc), the Lithuanians certainly made an excellent adversary. I actually lost on two occasions whilst fighting against them - Once was because I ran out of time whilst sieging, but I'll give them that. In the version of SS I am playing, when you take over their territories you gain certain "local" units which you can add to your own lines. This meant I could train the Lithuanian Archers, which are simply peasant type units, however they have the ability to plant wooden stakes. These guys became essential in my defense against the massive Mongol onslaught that I had to withhold.

Plus being Pagan should guarantee that nearly everyone on the map will hate your guts and want to grind you to a pulp! Would be an excellent challenge -well to a point.

Cool, im newbie on Stainless Steel so every new feature will impress me, Galain_Ironhide.
The problem is, i installed SS 6.1 and it crushes alot. So i couldnt fight even one battle.. Is there a way to fix it?

Perhaps something went wrong in the mod's install process, SS also requires that you install the game on a fresh copy of M2TW - if you have changed anything or have other mods installed, this may affect the game. You could try doing a fresh install of M2TW and Kingdoms into another folder and then installing SS into that and see where that gets you - hopefully you would have extra the space on your computer.

First, copy and save your important game-saves and tga's (screen shots- if you take them) somewhere safe, then uninstall M2TW, Kingdoms and SS and any other mods, plus get rid of any folders that is left behind (I cant remember if the SEGA file is left behind in c:My Computer/Program Files - if it is get rid of it).
Then re-install everything - very time consuming though it has worked for me in the past. This however means you have to also re-install other mods if you have them.

Either way I hope you can fix it!

Thanks for your help Galain_Ironhide, i re-installed everything but there is no use: the game still crushes on battlemap...
I think i have to delay my battle story until i find better M2TW CD.

Oh man that sucks. Sorry it didnt fix your problem Yesugey. Have you asked about this in the TWC forum for SS? They at first will probably suggest the same thing, but if you explain that you have aready re-installed over a fresh copy of M2TW, hopefully someone will come up with a good answer.

Edit: Better yet, I just read this Thread on TWC with regards to installing SS6.X. Might be worth a read just in case you may have done something differently.
